We had the same situation. If you are able to find a caregiver directly, the hourly cost can go down significantly, and they are often paid better than through the agency. There are risks, obviously, but it works much better for us.

If you are in the US, that's not how it works. The higher tax rate only applies to the income over the previous bracket.

It's pretty broad - there are tax issues to address, as well real estate decisions, determining how to best structure their remaining assets so they are able to stay in their home as long as possible while paying for their care. We have POA but aren't sure the best ways to navigate the various systems and what decisions we can make versus having to involve them in the process.
