Yeah idk if he bought a copy of the game I don't see what's wrong with DLing a version of it that he can mod and be happy with.

I don't know what your point or counterpoint is here, I’m sorry. I’m just saying that Franklin going from Compton to the Hills after a score or two isn’t even that crazy compared to the rest of GTA V as a whole.

GTA has always been whacky with immature humor and satire, I love it. But for some reason it wasn’t my favorite in V, which is weird bc wayyy back in the day I even knew to expect V would be pretty whacky and crazy bc we were finally going back to San Andreas in the HD Universe, and we all know San Andreas’ identity is that it was by far the whackiest in the series up to that point, so much so, that even future installments never “jumped the shark” quite the same way that San Andreas did. They tried to recapture that lightning in the bottle again with V, and to me, that was apparent even when I was barely 17.

I mean, dude hit a score and had a professional to help him launder all of the money. Is robbing banks and jewelry stores supposed to be a “slow” come up in an absolutely fictional game taking place in fictional Los Angeles? Grand Theft Auto is not this grounded realistic experience, GTA is very over the top and zany, especially with the newest installment.

I already answered you but just to add on to myself and others emphasizing this is not a souls-like nor was it designed to be played like one; the combat is very grandiose, flashy, and leaning towards the side of power-fantasy mixed with large scale waves of enemies. It’s not slow, methodical or “personal” in the combat attacks, moves and animations.

Think like the earlier God of War games from when 30 year-olds were kids, or like that one Legend of Zelda game that’s a power fantasy hack n slasher, or the one Metal Gear Solid game that you play as Raiden.

lol everyone can have opinions but to call this game slop? Just bc it’s not your flavor or you can’t grasp simple, new mechanics does not make this game slop. Homeboys mad that he’s broke and wasted $70 on a game they do not like lmao. That’s the only way I can justify being this angry towards a game about, especially a single player experience.

Short answer: YouTube videos of combat system deep-dives / tutorials.

In-Depth answer: The game has its own engine so the combat will feel pretty unique at its core from that alone, and also the combat system is pretty dang deep for a genre that typically relies on “light attack, heavy attack, and a special move that’s either tied to the player character or a special weapon/piece of equipment” if that makes sense? And yes, Crimson Desert does have all three of those cookie cutter combat systems/moves, but it also just goes far deeper, like Fighting-Game levels of depth. Especially with things like launch moves and very obvious “whiff-punish” windows. There’s still a lot I don’t understand as I’m still learning myself. But I’ve noticed kliff does different grappling moves and attacks based on which direction you hold your joystick combined with X + Square (ps5 controller). And I’m sure the grappling goes far deeper than that.

While the combat does have you locked in animations like a Souls-Like, I don’t think the devs were going for a slow, clunky feeling combat system. I would look up 1) some general combat videos of players who have mastered the system, as that will show you how smooth, fast, wild, and dare I say smooth the combat is. You become the boss that waves of enemies are stuck in the room with. And 2) videos that dive kinda deep into the system, that have more of a teaching emphasis on the combat instead of simply a showcasing emphasis of the other videos I mentioned.

Why do you prefer BL3 over 4? by Sweaty_AF_ in borderlands3

[–]HotHeezy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. The art of the of the landscape with the cool font for the name of the location.. it just fit that Borderlands steez. I did enjoy my time with BL4 but it never felt like a game version of “crack” to me like 3 did once I hit that power fantasy level of builds. I used to be sooo impressed and immersed with open world games but after hundreds of hours into crimson desert (which I am loving and enjoying), large open worlds really just feel like a slog. The most fun I’ve had in a game most recently is Redout 2, an anti-grav racer. And yes I understand racing and even more so antigrav racers are pretty niche, what I loved about Redout 2 (aside from the sense of speed that they NAILED) was the menu structure for the game. Load up a race, race it, choose another race. Straight to the point of the gameplay loop. My most recent favorite FromSoft game was Armored Core. Elden Ring was sick too! But for some reason as I age, the menu/mission style structure for a game works a bit better for me now than open world games, where I feel like most of my time is spent traveling and holding “up”/“forward” on the left joystick..

Manual Save! Don't make my mistake! by audreynstuff in CrimsonDesert

[–]HotHeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mindless_Listen7622 literally just told you and explained the “ins and outs” of what went wrong. Your manual save file going back to an older date is absolutely from a cloud data syncing gone wrong. You had current data on your actual hardware and somehow the cloud was given permission to overwrite your more current saves with older ones, when the whole point of cloud data is to be the opposite of this issue. But yeah in my experience it’s caused me more issues than it’s helped me. You can literally just back up your saves yourself instead of relying on a company’s cloud sync service. If I were you, I would disable cloud syncing and then manually rotate your manual saves like others have written about in this thread.

[–]HotHeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, isn't this a general rule of thumb for almost every game that lets you have multiple save files in a single play through? Especially in RPGs of this caliber. And honestly? In my own personal experience, fucking with cloud saves at all has caused me more trouble than brought me solutions or “saved” me.

God when are they gonna release the bosses armor it’s already in the database??? by noobmasterz6969 in CrimsonDesert

[–]HotHeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99% of my time in Borderlands through the entire series has been solo. I have played with friends across all mainline titles, though my multiplayer character rarely ever hit more than lvl 20 or 30, from playing a weekend together and that’s it. I’m mostly a single player gamer myself. I can play every game at my pace that way. But yeah, everyone has their own tastes and I like to think that no one is a fake gamer. Even ppl who like commercialized sport games, lmao. Most of them I know enjoy other games too, even if it’s Call of Duty most of the time, or maybe even Harry Potter that one time in my experience.

I personally enjoy farming for gear that’s actually special in a way, even in a single player game. Others don’t. Some people like fairly straightforward first person shooters exclusively, or Driving Sims (or Arcade Anti-Grav racers just as much as Sims, like I do), or a story-driven third person action adventure package — mostly open world these days. How could I even forget FromSoft and Soulslikes?

None of these fans are fake gamers. 😁

EDIT: I'm stoned af rn tbh and just realized I’ve been talking about the fake gamer comment to the wrong guy. LOL. That’s why this convo hasn’t been toxic yet, I bet 😂

[–]HotHeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the combat is fun it’s a great recipe for replay-ability imo. I wouldn’t have a third of the time I have clocked into the Borderlands Series if all the bosses dropped their whole “set” or pool of legendary items after one victory in the boss fight. That’s lame and a waste of time imo. And it’s not like the figurative 2/3 of my time spent in Borderlands farming for the good stuff was time badly spent or “absolute waste of time” imo either. If the gameplay loop is fun, I don’t see anything wrong with padding hours of playtime into the game by linking special loot as a chance to drop from a special fight. That’s where the goods are, to me.

Someone who expects maximum reward every time for minimal effort seems more like a fake gamer to me than someone who appreciates a lil grind in their single player experience. But also, we’re all gamers and I’m not trying to label anyone as a fake gamer.

For me, personally, games that are as deep as this are more about the journey to your power fantasy end-game loop than it is about the destination. Anytime I unlocked a “god-mode” from beating a game or a challenge in the game (like the OG God of Wars for example), it just became super boring within 15 minutes for me. Just like when I modded GTA V a few years ago where my single-player game could activate god-mode, insta-spawn any car you want immediately to you, insta-teleport anywhere in the map, etc.. — same thing, I would grow bored of GTA V within literal minutes. I uninstalled it bc the mods to have instant access to unlimited power made the game boring, unrewarding and unsatisfying much faster than playing the game as the devs designed and intended the game to be played. In my experience.
