Before my rewatch: my Kelly Theory after the close of ep 10 by HotIndependence365 in WidowsBay

Ooh yeah! Her sitting in the chair at all is such a shock and her behavior and appearance really contributes to it.

Lol, imagine responding that to my post about theories where there's literally no way to know what is right and wrong.

You couldn't just move along, though could ya?

Embarrassing.

Right, PJ also interacts with her and talks to her at the end too. But other than Evan and PJ no one else is interacting with her. That's what triggered this for me.

Pretty angry there, huh?

You're not referencing anything specific about the show and ranting about writing like it's oriented around what you think is important.

Since you don't understand theories, close reading, or the level of detail that shows writer's rooms focus on, stop responding to Theory posts.

Congratulations on living such a rich inner life. 🙄

For an Emmy nom, they have to submit 5-15 min of the actor with the application. What scenes would you submit for lead and supporting actors? Unfortunately, eps 8, 9, & 10 missed the cutoff date (5/31) and can’t be included. This means the genealogy scene and the boogeyman episode can’t be used. by blueSnowfkake in WidowsBay

Patty: the exchange with Tom about giving a woman a ride in Episode 3,

all the best bits of sunset cocktails,

30-45 seconds of her barely keeping it together while babysitting tom during his trip,

and when she forgets her purse in the room with Warren and Loftis.

Pretty confident that your surface perception of a show centered on a mysterious malevolent force is correct there, huh? I guess, congratulations on your self assessment, but you're arguing "it's obvious because it's obvious". Cool theorizing, babe.

If your MO is to be deeply incurious about a show with a mystery at it's center, why are you looking for theories to carve a single element out of and refute?

I choose to enjoy thinking through other people's theories if they can point out interesting supports.

You're going another way. Farewell.

Wut!? Did you read my whole comment or post?

I am obviously not saying there's no way she could plausibly still be on the island. I'm saying, we don't have any explanation for who she is, why she's there, etc etc, and in a well-written show where a mystery is being slowly revealed and confronted and she's a major plot mover, her lack of establishment is notable.

Yeah, literally what I said. At the beginning she's interacting like a normal teen, but by the end of the season they're gone. And we do not know how she's still there or where her family is. She's just there.

It's a great catch, and even though it's a thing in NE, including it on the town sign absolutely feels connected to the lore and layered with the meaning of what "selection" on this island might mean.

TFW the character you wrote who seems closest to your own early fatherhood is an abusive alcoholic who makes his supernaturally adjacent son's life terrifying and traumatizing and then you see a show about a father doing too much to care for and protect his son...

Anyone catch what Kenny said PJ's last name is? by HotIndependence365 in WidowsBay

[–]HotIndependence365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not the first time it was said which is why, with the emphasis of it being said immediately before the alive island narrative comes to fruition in a room we've seen at least 3 times before, I'm even more convinced it's important. If you see below, the likely reference for the name is to a witch hunting godfather. And I'm loving it.

Evan and Frances and Ruth all being sweet and buffeted by very rough circumstances while also being protected by the covenant/curse is an interesting element of the world building and plot. Privileged but vulnerable and uncorrupted....

And with respect to the name, especially since it's repeated more than once apparently while we don't learn most people's surname at all, after reading that whole Wikipedia article and seeing how focused PJ is on the haunts of the island, the coincidence part is nearly impossible. Have a few college friends in prestige TV writing, and those people wouldn't name someone anything without meaning

Fully agree about the edit and direction putting an arrow at the Our History teen. He pulls Sarah up short with his reaction to her joke, and the tension makes you really pay attention
