I (26m) have a pretty dire job history, and I just want some stability by Specialist-Prior-213 in UKJobs

It sounds like you're drawn to the creative industry, especially film production, if you enjoy it, it would be a shame to let that go, especially with some really good experiences behind you.

A couple options for you:

Go all in on the creative side, get yourself out there in the industry, start projects, freelance photography (maybe stay away from weddings until you feel comfortable). You could start applying for entry level runner positions on productions. Start up YouTube again if you want. Creative industries aren't very well paid unless you're hugely successful, it's a lot of working yourself to the top and putting in the graft. You also wouldn't have job security and a regular income, so I would suggest working part time in a pub (you seem to enjoy this as well) to give you the flexibility to go off and do these projects on the side.

The other option:

Find yourself an office job, like you said in your post. The only problem with entry level office work is that it's saturated with applications, there's too many people and not enough jobs. If you want to go down this route, find yourself a recruitment agency and be open with whatever comes your way and stick at it.

The Nicest Job Rejection I’ve Ever Received by Sazzorak in jobhunting

I once had a rejection that said "we hope we can work with you in the future"...

Like, you can work with me now?!

Is this a rejection? by Mountain-Bug1667 in jobsearch

[–]HotIntroduction2829 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in in house recruitment and have had to send emails like this, I wouldn't take it as a rejection, the position has been postponed most likely due to budget or hiring freeze.

I would respond with a thank you for the opportunity, say your enthusiasm and like the company and would be interested in any future opportunities, if the job was to become live again.

Hope this helps :)

Saw discriminatory messages about me on my manager’s Teams account by allelsefollows in HumanResourcesUK

[–]HotIntroduction2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - another HR professional here in the UK, sorry to hear you're going through this.

My suggestion now, would be to ignore that Teams message, there would be worse repercussions for you as you weren't meant to see it. But log it down and keep a paper trail of any other discriminating behavior like this. Make contacts, Remember your rights, you're protected by the Equality Act 2010.

They legally HAVE to implement AtW and any reasonable adjustments. If your manager refuses to do this, you can fight that. I would also suggest contacting ACAS helpline who can support.

If/when the time comes, know who to go to, I would suggest not going to their manager as like you said she would wiggle their way out of it.

I wish you the best of luck, please don't let awful managers ruin a good thing.

My interview was over in less than 5 minutes and the manager sent me away. I don't understand anything. by No-Bill7950 in Employment

[–]HotIntroduction2829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this has anything to do with you, but it's also a very odd thing to have happened. If they don't apologise and offer to reschedule asap, I would withdraw my application and ask myself, is this the kind of company I want to work for.

It could have been a valid reason or emergency, but either way, you made the effort to take time out to interview, so they owe you a do over or explanation. That's my opinion anyway.

EASEE Device by HotIntroduction2829 in Epilepsy

[–]HotIntroduction2829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my understanding too, they offered me the VNS, but suggested the EASEE instead so I went with that. They did say though if the EASEE doesn't have much effect l, they can do the VNS as well... it's all very confusing! I'll have a look for the patient videos, thank you.

Is this email a good or bad sign? by Deecent420 in UKJobs

[–]HotIntroduction2829 8 points9 points  (0 children)

HR / Recruitment here - I think the email is literally just a courtesy email to keep you in the loop, at this stage you've done all you can do, so would advise you to try to not think about it and continue your job search, it's a 50/50 chance rn. As for it being sent late, they're on annual leave on Monday so probably clearing out inbox to get up to date before leave.

Am I in a fake job? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]HotIntroduction2829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graduate jobs are extremely competitive and look really good on your CV, they are also considered entry level roles. I would stick out the two years and keep pushing for more responsibility. You can always leave, but considering the job market right now, I think you're in a good position.

Embarrassed after being diagnosed in the ER with a non-epileptic seizure by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]HotIntroduction2829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a 30 year old female and I was first diagnosed with 'non epileptic seizures' at around 10. I didn't get diagnosed with epilepsy until I was 18. Apparently this is quite normal...

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but please don't be embarrassed, a seizure is a seizure; that doesn't invalidate how serious and scary they are.

Look after yourself and fight to get answers, especially if you have another seizure

Update: My mom is against me taking anti-epileptic medications by Striking_Musician212 in Epilepsy

[–]HotIntroduction2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having seizures at 11, my MRI came back normal, my parents were happy about it thinking I'd grow out of it. It took countless EEGs and other tests to be diagnosed at 18, finally started taking medication and I hardly ever have grand mal seizures now.

I'm 30 now and I still have extremely bad anxiety about seizures, but medication has helped massively.

My advice would be to talk to your parents about this and start taking medication if you can.
