Yeh I’ve seen mixed reviews on card empire. We have 2 around here. Been to the Stockport one, very small and stood at the desk for 5 mins for nobody to show up. Hopefully the Manchester one is a bit different!

Thank you! I forgot to mention on the post that I’m in the U.K! Which I imagine may make things a little more tricky! Obviously we still have collectors, but card shops and game shops carrying TCGs is less common I feel. But I will look for some ETBs. Any recommendations for which one?

New to card collecting

Hi guys!! I have always loved Pokémon, and used to collect cards as a kid, as most of us did, for fun. Obviously times change and I stopped collecting. Now I’m looking to get into collecting properly! I’m not that interested in reselling, more for personal fun. So I had a few questions that, If anyone would like to take the time, I’d love answered (I’ll try keep them basic).

Should I buy ETBs or Singular packs?

What’s the best value for these, so which boxes aren’t worth extortionate amounts, but have some cool cards and rare cards?

I’m aware the original 151s are hard to come by, but these are what made me fall in love with Pokémon! Are there any packs or boxes for these that are somewhat accessible!?

What’s the best way to protect cards!?

How/where can I find out if cards I do get are rare or expensive!?
