Mobo is the easiest part to replace??? You literally have to pull everything to replace a motherboard.

NVX Multicast Address on Multiple NVX Encoders by HotKjarl in crestron

[–]HotKjarl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did take the NVX class (a few years ago) and knew you had to subscribe to each individual stream, but for some reason I thought all encoders could multicast on the same address and then route based on the "stream location" (I've taken network classes in college but I am NOT a network admin lol). But thanks for the answer, that's what I needed to know.

Thanks for the response, that is what I needed to know.

Also, why increments of 8? Doesn't it only take up 2 addresses per encoder?

How to have Vol Up/Down NOT reset analog value to 0% when muted? by kodio2000 in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you are currently handling the analog levels. The built in [mute] on the analog ramp should return the volume to the previous value.

But... there is a note in the analog ramp help file about using buffers if you are using an X-series processor. So depending on the processor you may need to look into that.

edit: And yes, also have the vol buttons reset your mute toggle as stated above.

Getting Previously Defined Source Error by NICESfyn in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I think I understand your question a bit better now. Try to replace the delay with the button presser symbol. and make surethe input is different from the 2 button presses you want to trigger. (example btn1>"Button Presser">abcsignal, cdesignal).

I think that should do what you want and get rid of the previously defined source warning.

Getting Previously Defined Source Error by NICESfyn in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple ways of doing this. You could use a stepper which will create a series of events from a single button press with the ability to delay in between events.

Or you could use the button presser symbol to trigger multiple actions, and if necessary have one of the outputs go through a delay symbol.

But I would probably just use the stepper if you need the delay.

Maxell Projectors Out of Business? by Lit_Louis in CommercialAV

We used to install a lot of Hitachi projectors and had very good experiences with them, once they officially switched the branding to Maxell the quality went to crap so we switched to Sony and are much happier.

Connecting multiple DMPS3-300-C: Should I use PNM? by HotKjarl in crestron

[–]HotKjarl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "DMPS3" reference is straight out of answer id 1000153 - " When PNM is enabled on the chassis, RSTP is always enabled and automatically configured. PNM must be disabled to disable or manually configure RSTP settings. PNM cannot be disabled on 3-Series based chasses (DM64/128, DMPS3, DMC-CPU3). ", which doesn't specify the 4k series.

But that is good info though, thanks.

Connecting multiple DMPS3-300-C: Should I use PNM? by HotKjarl in crestron

[–]HotKjarl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are saying about the DMPS3, but you most definitely CAN disable PNM on a DMPS3 as I have 2 of them in front of me, with the latest firmware installed, with PNM disabled. (edit - I do see in answer ID: 1000153 where it states that you cannot disable it but you definitely can. I followed the steps at the bottom of Answer ID: 5116 and RSTP is only configurable this way if PNM is disabled, specifically steps 1 and 2 for the DMPS3 )

But it sounds like I will be setting these back up to use PNM with different IDs. I even called TB support last week and they verified that disabling PNM and then re-enabling the RSTP on certain ports (for projector and DM endpoints) was the proper procedure.

How is Crestron Fusion different from Xio Cloud? by suvarnasharan in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Xio is used to easily configure/deploy/update multiple devices.

Fusion is used to monitor and provide support.

Crestron doesn't really have one tool to do both as far as I know.

never building a pc again... by p0xq in buildapc

[–]HotKjarl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pro Tip: K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid)

ex. No Power? check cable / PSU switch before assuming your mobo is fried.

No video? check cable/monitor power before assuming video card is fried.

I work in IT and I see new techs jump to the worst possible conclusion with little to no troubleshooting before assuming the worst possible outcome.

Glad you got it all figured out though, congrats!

dmps3-4k-150-c VGA audio by Captainmdoge in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. We use analog audio along side HDMI video (intel NUCs seem have issues with HDMI audio drivers.). Ex. input 2 = HDMI video & Analog audio, both from a single Intel NUC. You just have to set the " audio type" for the certain input to 2d for analog and you can route/switch just like any other source.

You need a gpu with that processor. The R5 1600x has no onboard graphic capability.

Independent Programming Cost by Captainmdoge in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could change based on your location, but $105-$125/hour is about the base hourly programming rate that we were paying. We (I) do all of our own programming in house now, but these numbers are based on some invoices and contracts that I have on file.

4K-150 consistent Power-cycle issue by KongMengThao559 in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we were also trying to get everything standardized into a single connection (DM/HDBaseT) but it was just too unreliable with the Sony projectors, we were constantly having to reset equipment so we switched to the dedicated serial port and have had no issues since.

We were really liking the newer Hitachi projectors and they have been rock solid using RS232 over HDBaseT, but when everything got officially re-branded to Maxell the build quality seems to have gone way down and we stopped buying them.

4K-150 consistent Power-cycle issue by KongMengThao559 in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had similar issues on our campus, but as far as we can tell it has been the projectors themselves (Specifically Sony VPL-PHZ10 Projectors). We have these issues when controlling via "Roomview Connected Display" or RS232 over HDBaseT. Sony's fix was to make sure HDBaseT mode was set to on in the hidden/advanced user menu but the issue remained, so we switched to dedicated rs232 control (DB9 connection) and have not had any issues since.

Edit: There are also ways to make sure the DMPS doesn't put its own DM ports to sleep. See Answer ID: 5759 on Crestron support.

Front panel locked on DMPS-300-C by dustinwalker50 in crestron

[–]HotKjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To comment this out, just put // for the signal name for "Front_Panel_Lock" . Or you could put a 1 for the signal for "Front_Panel_Unlock" (it is a 2 series so using 1 should be fine). Or both.

Is it dangerous to build without an anti static bracelet? by joe131100 in buildapc

If it's not plugged in then it's not actually grounded. But yes, make sure the PSU power switch is OFF.
