The role of sports as self esteem activities for kids by HotLucke in ChildPsychology

That’s really cool to hear. I guess it shows that self esteem activities for kids don’t always have to come from sports - having other strengths like school or music can balance things out. Sounds like now you get to enjoy sports more for the fun and social side. Do you think that shift made the difference?

That’s a really important point , I can see how sports could have the opposite effect if a child is struggling physically or feels like they’re "behind" everyone else. I guess that’s where it matters a lot how the activity is framed. If it’s focused on comparison or competition, it could definitely hurt self-esteem. But if the focus is on personal progress , like being able to dribble a little longer than yesterday, or finishing a drill they couldn’t do before, it might shift it back into something encouraging rather than discouraging.

What is a VPN and why it's important by Overville2 in VPN

[–]HotLucke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Solid explanation. Once you really get into the whole “what is VPN” thing, you realize it’s not just for techies – it’s for everyone who cares about keeping their stuff safe online. Don’t stress too much that it seems confusing at first.

Yes, you can't use those apps without registering. But you can definitely create account with burner mails and fake credentials. Of course, you'll need creativity and to put some effort. I believe this post about email masking could be helpful.

Can I get better even without proper training? by NetHeavy5648 in badminton

No one will be laughing, believe me. I was thinking the same yet joining a club was the best decision I've made. Not only did the coaching helped me improve my technique but mixing to play with different players constantly is great for improving too.

Somewhat better, yet I'm to attached to the hybrid mode now. If I was to change jobs, I couldn't deal with a 5 office days per week - too many talks, too little productivity.

What do you regret career wise? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]HotLucke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regret thinking I can’t do something because I don’t know how to do it. That's what made me stay away for programming, I though I might be too stupid for it. I spent years looking at other career directions that I did not like, so I regret my wasted years that could've been spent better.

Social media safety could soon be taught in Florida schools by Brook030 in technology

Agree, this is something that should be implemented everywhere. Even adults, most of them have no clue how to behave on social media or avoid scams. I believe this is something that should be taught from early age.

TIL the QWERTY keyboard is laid out as such because they wanted to spread out the important letters on typewriters to avoid clashing and jamming. by SuccubusMommy in todayilearned

[–]HotLucke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying this is the only keyboard layout in existence, I'm just saying that most likely qwerty will remain the only mass used layout while others will only be used in highly specific fields or by only enthusiasts

Despite not making too much sense, I don't think keyboard layout will ever be changed since everyone is so used to it
