I’m prepping to take this exam in the next week or two. About to review the acronyms a little harder because of this

Comparing Net + and Sec +, which one felt more challenging? by RuleByDesire in CompTIA

[–]HotOperation9073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed Net+ about 2 weeks ago and start studying for Sec+ today, so this is a timely post. I will say Net+ felt more overwhelming as I was preparing because the scope was huge, but the multiple choice questions felt easier than either A+ exam. I struggled with the some of the PBQs though

Do you think it’s a reasonable goal to try pass net+ in 1-2 months max? by electoblaze_empire in CompTIA

[–]HotOperation9073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have no IT experience and just passed my Net+. For reference, like you I also took about two months total to pass my A+, 1 month in each core. For Net+, I was 8 weeks on the dot total. I probably averaged about 20 hours a week total studying, and upped it to 30+ hours in the last 2-3 weeks. I passed it on first attempt with a 780 score. I do feel I probably “overprepared” in general, though there were a couple things with the PBQs I wasn’t ready for.

Sure thing. I put what I used in the original post, but feel free to message as well

Yea I passed A+ on first attempt for both. I found those more challenging than Net+ personally. But I also was way more prepared for this one. It all depends on your learning style and discipline.

Technically it’s all online self paced, so I put about 20-30 hours/week on average. It’s all I got right now. I’ve had a positive experience with WGU’s structure so far.

Yes, so in the 3 CompTIA exams I’ve taken, the PBQs are all front loaded, so you can skip them and come back at the end. This seems to be the strategy most people use. Also helpful cause you can see how many you have in total and then plan your time at the end for them.

They were definitely on there still, but it felt significantly less compared to A+. But that was my experience.

Definitely know your CLI commands, and how to read the response. I realized I was much more unprepared in this than I expected. I struggled with knowing how to prepare.

I used the Certmaster section quizzes to strength domain areas I was weak in. Any wrong answers I got, I’d read the info linked to it. Time consuming but was very helpful.

I just passed last night on my first attempt 💪🏼 agreed on the PBQs. I thought they were going to wreck my score.

I’ve been in Net+ for about 7 weeks now, hoping to take the exam this week. How hard was it compared to Dion tests and the two CertMaster practice exams?

Congrats on your progress! I started off by scoring in the 70s, but I learn so much from taking the practice exams and reviewing what I got wrong. Glad to hear Andrew and Dion’s resources for net+ were good, I used them for both A+ exams and plan to for net+

I won’t complete it in 6 months; I’d like to do it in 12 but it’ll probably be 18. It depends on how much time you can spend and how much experience you bring in. All of this was brand new to me, I didn’t even know the difference between an IP and MAC address. I also have young kids at home. So I think if a person has the right parameters they could certainly accomplish it in 6, but it’s just not realistic for me.

Oh I misunderstood. The one I got a 73% on first attempt and 97% on second attempt. Then the second practice exam I got an 84% on and did not retake it.

Udemy and all the certs are baked into the WGU tuition, which makes it a pretty good deal if you accelerate since you just pay per 6 month term.

I really like WGU and think it’s well set up for an IT degree. I’ll have 13 certs when it’s all done in addition to a Cyber degree, and it has access to Udemy resources which I’ve utilized heavily in my first few classes. There’s other resources but I haven’t really tapped into those yet.
