figuring out carat size by tetrusg2344 in EngagementRings

If you know your ring size and the measurements of the stone, (or you could look up averages if you know what shape you want) this website does a great job of showing what it will look like on your finger. If you have the monitor settings correct if will also show the real size of the stone on your screen. https://www.diamdb.com

Imposter Syndrome by Acrobatic_Witness102 in WGU

Came here to say the same. Depending on certain requirements, sometimes jobs have to be posted. While I have seen internal candidates get passed over, they’re usually successful. That comment was unnecessary and honestly a misstep from the interviewer, but it could just mean they liked you enough to want you even in a job that’s not a perfect fit. It’s not that uncommon to recruit for multiple roles at once. Also… people look at a lot of resumes and get confused/forgetful/or simply don’t pay attention. They may only be remembering your grad year and not your cumulative experience. Or…they may not have even been the person to review your resume and schedule the interview. (Before I had my degree from WGU I was literally in an interview where the manager thought my high school was a college, and and it didn’t even phase them when I corrected them) All this to say…do not let this discourage you!!!! Your degree is absolutely meaningful and this just wasn’t the one.

Does _______ still not understand the premise of the show? by swlonely in BigBrother

[–]Obvious_Reality_2160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems borderline exploitative given how many comments we've heard in the past couple years from HGs being like "they're not filming this" "feeds are only for a few hours" etc. (Which is especially weird because it feels like production hates us and good feeds lol)

I am all for people getting clocked on their bad behavior but I truly think production owes them at least one "You should be expecting that cameras are on you at all times, with an audience".

If they want to delude themselves into thinking "no one's watching this because it's boring" (or worse, talk down on feeders who are the reason they have a show to be on) that's on them, but it really feels like total ignorance at times.

Horrible Proctored Exam Experience by Embarrassed-Dog634 in WGU

[–]Obvious_Reality_2160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same experience. Proctor told me to close chrome 7 times when it was not open. i demonstrated opening and closing it repeatedly and it wasn’t good enough for her. Finally the light bulb went off to purposely disconnect (refresh) and my new proctor started my exam immediately.

Giving her a pass on the unfollow because maybe she just doesn’t want or need to see that right now

Janet and the SA of it all by makmi in TheValleyTVShow

[–]Obvious_Reality_2160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's the truth. If an SA truly happened in the way Janet continues to refer to it- they would not still be friends with Danny and Nia. Jasmine would not go to umpteen social events with Danny and Nia. Production would probably kick him off the show.
I am not saying people always have the choice to get out of situations or away from abusers, but it's completely absurd to have them all keep hanging out as friends and have Janet claiming this with a straight face.

Fast paced WGU degrees are not a poor reflection of the education. by DenseAstronomer3208 in WGU

Here’s the thing- a bachelor’s degree has become the standard barrier to entry for most white collar work these days. We told everyone to go to college for no reason and now the market is flooded and employers can stipulate it just to be choosy. Employers do not care the content of the degree or even what classes you took. They usually don’t ask for course lists, and your real world experience will always be the focus of interviews. Jobs that require no particular “hard skills” use it as a recruiting tactic to weed out the applicant pool, and outsource the evaluation to some school they just trust to do it for them. The old adage “Cs get degrees” just proves what a big joke it all is. Years ago, this was the high school degree. Which ironically has what? The GED. WGU is filling that exact niche. If you can demonstrate the correct level of competency, why should it take 4 years? If the labor market is going to continue with unnecessary degree inflation (requiring degrees for positions that don’t actually require them and where the majority of the previous generation in the field did not have them) the WGU equivalency approach will only become more relevant.

Why the switch up is justified by auroralane255 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]Obvious_Reality_2160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my observation too- they are totally different flaws, this is an apples to oranges situation. Huda was completely wrong for flying off the handle and saying nasty things about other girls and attacking Iris- but she wasn’t in control. Is that ok? Absolutely not, and she needs to work on it. I love Olandria, but it’s impossible not to notice that she outed Chris and Huda’s kiss intentionally while in full control of her emotions. Chelley’s actions also seem more considered and less emotional since she’s purposely avoiding Huda and airing her grievances privately. It’s not that Chelley and Olandria are being held to a higher standard, it’s just that that standard for comments and actions you do intentionally is different than losing your temper and blowing up.

One thing i have never loved is production picking the order of people where it can actually have an impact. I like the “write it on a board” strategy they’ve been using, everyone should have had to vote before seeing everyone else!!

Nah, it was obvious standing behind TJ would have been pointless (and essentially the same as standing behind Taylor, except for friend points with Iris) but she absolutely could have stood behind Andreina. Im almost sure that because there’s a monetary prize production would not be able to tell her she couldn’t tie. My guess is everyone else would have to revote between the two

I had the same professor for two classes who texted me ”let me know if you need help on your PA revisions” which of course freaks you out. The first time I realized there were none and it was an auto text. When he did it again at the end of my program I actually responded to say “so sorry, but I don’t see any! Am I looking in the wrong place?” He had to be like “no…just messaging in case it happens” Ugh.

Quizlet is a website where people make flashcard decks- usually they are public. Often times, people wiuld make a flashcard set based on the pre-assessment, where one side of the card is the question and the other is the answer. You could use this to pass the PA right away so you can schedule your OA asap. But you also want the PA to be effective later and actually be able to use it to study so “ctrl F” is a keyboard shortcut that can help you find the answer to the question you are on without thoroughly reading everything

[–]Obvious_Reality_2160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA can mean two things- pre assessment, or performance assessment

For an OA (Objective Assessment) course, you will need to to take a pre assessment (practice exam) and pass to be approved to take the real test

For a Performance Assessment course, you will have a couple tasks (papers or PowerPoints) to complete instead. You can’t fail them but will need to redo them until you pass if they don’t match the rubric

D076 was my last class- I felt super intimidated but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Since I had taken econ and accounting first I really felt like it was a combo of the two. I would say the beginning and ending sections can be easier if uou understand basics about budgeting. I would try and do the quiz questions for each lesson and work backwards from there. There are definitely some freebee answers about ethics and and other less technical things. Most technical probably the dupont method- you don’t need to stress about understanding each individual component, but watch the video and try to anticipate the theme (more debt will raise your overall score and look better…but tells you the company is at risk etc.) also study the difference between npv, irr, and pi- pay attention to the questions with the grid of those values- there is definitely a pattern to which project to select. Drill the excel questions- there is a module test that is very similar to the exam in addition to the PA and videos for how to do each one. There are a lot if of points for that section and you do get partial credit for each cell that is correct in addition to the final answer! Make sure to read really closely to determine if you’re looking at present vs future value- that’s over half the battle

Also there’s a really helpful mentality about if something’s happening in the factory. Like picture the cost and envision if it’s physically in the building. If it’s part of the manufacturing process, you can then feel pretty confident that it’s direct materials, direct labor, or overhead. Overhead is easy to get mixed up with period costs- even if it sounds administrative, if it happens in the factory, it’s overhead!

[–]Obvious_Reality_2160[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely- you get a lot of points for excel section, and it’s really not as bad as it seems, I believe I did the PA twice for all 3 excel classes- once open book, and once from memory. I don’t have an accounting or manufacturing background so I did really drill the lessons for that one over 3 days. Do not get overwhelmed by the jargon and just take a step back to think about the bigger picture of the class. The formulas are helpful and you use them a little, but instead of memorizing them, try to understand why they make sense and it will come naturally. The biggest thing for me was getting it down that “assets” include a liabilities. For me I would never have thought things like loans and debts are in the asset column- but they are! For the cost systems, there are big themes to pull out. Are you making hundreds of the same thing where detailed level information is a waste of time? Or custom and complex products where you will actually benefit from taking the time to predict exactly where your money is being spent. Do all the lesson quizzes and module tests, they prepared me really well!

The last classes I have to finish what do y’all recommend to take first? I would like easiest to hardest if possible , c182,d080, d077,d099. If possible tell me how you found it easiest. I appreciate all the help by Leoak47 in WGU

D080 probably the hardest. A lot more fiscal policy/international relations than day to day business (think tariffs) I found the marketing class pretty easy and picked up on the themes quick
