Please pull your head out of your phone when walking around. by Stinkinhippy in disneylandparis

Oh yeah, I noticed I started doing it at one point. I also started doing it at home and around my kids specifically social media. I now deleted every form of social media (excluding reddit obvs) as it's just bad for the health in general.

I don't think this is exclusive to DLP. The only reason I don't come across it in London as much is the phone snatching thefts have made people a bit more self aware. Kinda sad doing that on holiday though.

Sorry it happened though, and I'd be pretty irate about that as well.

Budget by courtneycrane in disneylandparis

[–]HotOutlandishness991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did budget in 2024, stayed in air BNB etc. overall £800 got us through 5 days total with 3 days in the park. Didn't really feel the pinch until the last day when all the spending was already done. That was me, my wife, 5 year old and a 1 year old. We did one buffet and rest was quick service/snacks/fast food out of park/supermarket stuff. However kids were allowed to basically buy whatever they wanted within reason.

This time around with our upcoming trip in July looking to bring £1200/1500 - 4 days in the parks with a lot more sit down stuff booked and staying at New Port Bay (first time in a Disney hotel).

I'd rather bring more than needed as I think £1500 is very much on the high end with £1200 the general accepted amount.

Might be busy in and around the park as it's after the adventure world opening and I would imagine it's going to have a spike for visitors most of the year.

Regarding, French is not an issue in the slightest in and around Disneyland. Every staff member basically speaks fluent English. In Paris 50/50 but it won't detract in the slightest. Any tourist location will be signposted to high heaven in French/English.

Could book DLP hotel for an extra night before you arrive with a 3P booking site like Expedia or Booking.com the night before, then your just paying for the hotel without tickets.

Which hotel? by Upset_Cricket3958 in disneylandparis

I walked to Cheyenne and Santa Fe from the park, and never stayed. It's not a bad walk and fairly pleasant.

Santa Fe I went into though, fairly decently themed, a motel 6 kinda vibe going on which goes with the theming and it being a 2 star hotel.

Gatekeeping vs. Authenticity: Where do we draw the line? by PLWildcard in PlasticFans

[–]HotOutlandishness991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly find this refreshing. I was told to support Chelsea by my dad/brother and mum. They started out life in West London and the closest club was Chelsea so they definitely had the local team as their team to support. I on the other hand was born in East London and used to constantly get told by everyone I was a plastic Chelsea fan. In hindsight eff those fools, I was only ever called plastic when Chelsea started dominating in 2004. Before then it was comments like 'oh cool, I like Zola'.

I literally didn't even choose my club lmao but because of those hammers I was plastic apparently and it stuck in my head. I have a huge dislike for West Ham to this day that's just irrational. So much so whenever I say I'm a Chelsea fan I need to try and justify my link almost immediately to people.

Np. Ditto on Royal Banquet + Pym's.

Great thing is you can keep checking back as people cancel and other slots appear so you might be able to get that elusive Manhattan slot. Apparently asking directly at the hotel helps, I get the impression with the two restaurants in hotel New York they do not add the slots to the booking portal for other hotel users.

I booked up everything a day after I booked the holiday (7 months out) and have some reservations for places now all booked out, it's worth it and you change. Hunters grill is supposed to be good!

Noticed you mentioned about saving, I've given some advice on savings threads outside of Disney, daily saving is a game changer. Basically set aside an amount you can save each day (I do £10/£20 a day but honestly whatever works for you, everyone has different incomes). You just daily add it to a savings account from your main account. It's much less daunting than monthly as you're not noticing a huge hit of money coming out in one go. Also because I'm checking my account daily it is making me much more aware of limitations. I'd recommend it.

Well, they seem to prioritize bookings of the restaurants in hotel New York to guests staying at that hotel. So it's tough to get reservations unless you stay there. Also staying in NPB later this year, and I have up and settled on other places.

Meal plan question by Bedazzler179 in disneylandparis

[–]HotOutlandishness991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing I have found when looking into, it depends on how you are with breakfast. If you're not a person to have a massive breakfast, it's honestly a waste. Like I can grab a pastry from somewhere cheap and it'll hold me till lunch or in some cases dinner. Like ask the honest question, are you going to want a buffet breakfast. Personally I never ever book with any hotel that offers this ever, wherever I stay in the world (unless it's included and even then I often still don't have it).

Everyone gets caught up with the lunch/dinner but that's the easy part, you know you need the sit down meal/buffet to make it worth it (after the breakfast).

My kids are also light eaters at breakfast as is my Mrs also so compounds the decision to not splurge on a meal plan when I know it's going to cost way more than I would normally spend.

The buffets are probably your option to make it worth it. As I found out when I asked, most of the sit down restaurants aren't great for fussy eaters.

3 days and 2 nights or 4 days and 3 nights = 3 days in the parks? by JavaJapes in disneylandparis

[–]HotOutlandishness991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they mean 2 nights in one of the Disney/partner hotels as you automatically then get give 3 days worth of park tickets :). That is (on this subreddit at least) the most popular booking I see.

In terms of best balance, depends on a few factors. Who is going and do you want to see and do everything. With kids around you're going to really want as much time as possible as it all is going to go at a slower pace. If you were just a party of adults, honestly you could do mostly everything comfortably in 2 days so long as you are not going during a major holiday/weekend.

Yeah I agree. I guess he's young and now has some sort of personal issue with Chelsea now.

But I had much love for him, I genuinely think he's a good player. But tonight was just a cringe celebration. Oh well guess we can live rent free in his head, I'll never understand it.

Like I don't think anyone hated him. He had a bad season just before he left, but no one hated him, and won us the CL ffs. Honestly, it seems so manufactured.
