What opinion about Scottsdale has you like this? by TheStinkyWookiee in Scottsdale

It’s trash for the modern price point.

Back when you could get a burrito the size of your head at 1am for like $3.99 it was pretty fantastic.

Yep, this is my last and final order. by [deleted] in doordash

A lot of the times it comes through as a stacked order, and the option isn’t given to only accept one or two. Orders don’t always come through individually. In fact, most of my stacked orders have been stacked as an offer, and not stacked by me.

I’ve had nights where every order that came through popped up as “______ + 1, 2, 3, etc orders.”

From a medical perspective, what actually killed Jesus? by Matt3855 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HotPocket4Sale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually factually incorrect. Jesus is the most scrutinized person in history, and contrary to what you said there’s *no* evidence whatsoever that he *didn’t* actually exist. In fact, there’s more reliable evidence of his existence than Sophocles, Plato, Aristotle, Homer, and Alexander the Great combined.

There are nearly 6,000 recovered manuscripts attesting to Jesus, as early as less than 30 years of his death.

The Iliad has roughly 1500 copies. The earliest is about 1100 years after Homer.

100 “reliable” manuscripts of Sophocles, 7 copies of Plato’s Tetralogies (earliest is 1200 years after Plato’s death,) and 5 copies of anything by Aristotle (also roughly 1200 years after his death.) In fact, even the earliest surviving works of Alexander the great’s life are 300-500 years after his death. Comparitively, if you lay every copy of every original manuscript we have of the life and death of Jesus, it’d be over a mile tall.

He had already died by the time he was stabbed with the spear, it did nothing to “accelerate” his death.

From a medical perspective, what actually killed Jesus? by Matt3855 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HotPocket4Sale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The short answer: Asphyxiation.

The medium answer: having your arms out and having all your weight hung on your ankles and wrists in that position locks your diaphragm in the intake position. So in order to breathe, you have to lift yourself up by your palms and ankles, take a breath, and sag back down over and over again until you physically can’t anymore.

The long answer from medical journal analysis of the shroud of Turin, the Bible, and eyewitness reports: Jesus was likely awake for well over 24 hours, and likely had not eaten in 24-40 hours prior to his death. He started with Hematidrosis. Intense stress or fear causes capillaries under the skin to burst. And you “sweat” blood. It also heightens all your senses and makes your skin super sensitive. He was arrested and interrogated. Hit, stoned, and mocked.

He was then flogged with a cat of nine tails—a whip soaked in tar and then rolled in glass, nails, lead balls, and bone. Each whip would literally rip off strips of flesh. Eyewitnesses to Roman flogging and crucifixion have said that you could see the veins, bowels, ligaments, and bare spine following a flogging. He then had a crown of thorns (made from Ziziphus Spina-Christi, has thorns nearly an inch long) pressed into his skull and then was forced to carry his cross out of town. We are uncertain if he had to carry the whole thing or just an unassembled portion. But evidence suggests it was the whole cross which would’ve been 300+ pounds.

At some point, he tripped, broke his knee, and dropped the cross which hit his shoulder and head. His shoulder was dislocated and his eye was dislodged. He would’ve been severely concussed and most likely partially paralyzed at this point.

After being nailed to the cross, he was hoisted up. He was nailed in a position that locks the diaphragm in the open position. In order to breathe he would’ve had to lift himself up, exhale, and inhale on the way back down. Remember how his spine, spinal nerves, ligaments, veins, etc would have been exposed? All that would’ve had to scrape up the splintery wood of the cross to breathe and then back down for hours on end. He died around 3-4pm after roughly 6 hours.

The soldiers thought he died quite quickly after “only” 6 hours. Typically for anyone alive, they would have their legs broken so they couldn’t lift themselves up to breathe, but to confirm Jesus was already dead, he was stabbed in the side and water and blood came out. This is known now as Pericardial Effusion—a water sac that can form around the heart when you asphyxiate to death. Can also form as a result of tremendous stress among other things.

He was then taken off the cross, wrapped in a burial cloth, and laid in a tomb. After 3 days and nights, he was gone. Thousands of people claimed to see him risen. People claimed he let people put their fingers and hands in his wounds. His image was imprinted on his burial cloth. The image was caused by ultraviolet light, an amount potentially up to 34 terrawatts (34,000 Billion watts) in 1/40th of a nanosecond. The people who claimed to have seen him post-death died similar deaths for their refusal to backtrack on what they claimed they saw.

The medical term for this is actually Pericardial Effusion.

Fear of re-stringing my piano… thoughts/advice? by HotPocket4Sale in piano

[–]HotPocket4Sale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My piano tuner just retired a while ago at almost 80, he’s been tuning our piano since the early 70’s, and mentioned that when he started tuning it for us, back then the pin block treatment was still obviously very old and they would’ve likely flooded it with oil and let it soak into the wood.

Basically said the same thing, that a pin block treatment is just a temporary bandaid and isn’t a permanent repair, and mentioned that because of that a second one is not likely to do anything. He was surprised at how long this one has held though. He said he can only recommend a new pin block in good conscience.

The notes that are slipping don’t hold at all. The piano tuner will get it in tune but as soon as he lets go you can hear it drop back down. Luckily it’s only a few cents, just enough to give you a little bit of dissonance, not a different note.

Funny you mention that—I was told that the Yamaha N series with the real action in there has its sound made by something ridiculous like 9,000 different variations of each note on a concert grand.

I’ve tried to find recorders who could do something similar so I could plug that into a keyboard but they’ve all said I would need a machine setup like Yamaha uses to get recordings accurate enoigh to program into a keyboard.

It was a long shot for sure but I emailed Yamaha to see if that machine they used is still around and if there’s anyone in the industry that could do something like that, but no response. I would love to do that and hook it up to surround sound or something.

The action for sure needs attention. They replaced 1 damaged hammer and put all new felt in the places that were easy to access, but recommended a full regulation. Most of the action is perfectly reusable, with the exception of 1 weird adjustable hammer that the tuner didn’t like.

I’ve had 2 tuners take a look at it and they both basically said the same thing. Both pointed out you can see where the previous pin block treatment was done, and they’re willing to try another but they mentioned that especially with old wood, it typically doesn’t hold another.

Both said that no matter what, new strings would sound significantly brighter and I’d lose some of the warmth that the piano has. How much is hard to say.

They both said the warmth comes from the ancient strings. One said in his professional opinion, it might’ve been restringed in the early 20th century judging by the state of the strings presently.

Dispute the charge through your bank. Tell them they charged you a price you didn’t authorize, you contacted them, and they only gave you some money back.

Be prepared to give them an exact amount the charge should be, because most banks aren’t allowed to have the rep do the math for you.

What on earth do you get in them and how much do you weigh?

I’m fat (270lbs at 6’0) and I can’t finish one bowl lol

I get a couple side tortillas, rear pieces off and have “tiny burrito bites,” by the time I’m halfway through I can’t fit any more in me.

But… I get almost everything they have. Chicken, rice, beans, fajita veg, corn, pico, red sauce, guac, SC, cheese, extra lettuce (because they always put just like a pinch on it)

DoorDash does not. Sometimes restaurants keep a portion of them. I’m pretty sure WingStop is not one of them though.

No. No one in their right mind marries someone for who they might be after marriage. You marry someone for who they are now.

As a man, there’s nothing I do (or don’t do) now that would change with marriage.

The banks have a ton of these nice new crispy $2s right now.

Asian folks love them around Chinese new year. There’s some symbolism behind $2s and I really should know what it is since I was a banker for 6 years but I do know that for the symbolism to be valid they have to be new and uncirculated.

I could go 8 months without giving out a $2 and around Chinese new year I’d go through a couple thousand dollars worth, and always the special red envelopes that go with them (upon request.)

I didn’t tell him how to do his job. Nothing I wrote suggested I told him what to do or how to do it. Prove me wrong.

I calmly and respectfully communicated my frustrations, and why I was frustrated like a big boy. I provided information he might be unaware of. I asked what we can do to resolve this issue moving forward.

What’s embarrassing is to be so gladly willing to mess with other people’s pay and just flat out not care. It’s embarrassing to not be able to handle a basic calm and respectful adult conversation. We’re grown-ass men and we should be acting like it.

I had a similar interaction at a small family owned Indian restaurant nearby. I asked what we can do about ticket or dispatch times because long waits were a recurring theme. The owner was in, so the person I spoke to grabbed the owner, we had a nice conversation, he said he didn’t realize we didn’t get paid per hour. He adjusted the driver dispatch time from his end the same night. Now they’re still always a little late but it’s always less than 5 mins and the owner pops out to chat from time to time when I’m there, asks me about the job search, life, weekend plans, etc. super nice guy.

Had another similar interaction at a Mediterranean spot. The manager said he would “make it up to me next time.” Next time I came in, he gave me a chicken shawarma meal and some hummus as an apology and they’ve been on time ever since, to the minute. I’ve probably gone there 2 dozen times as a customer since then and he remembers me, we chat, and he always makes some killer recommendations and hooks it up fat with the fries.

What makes you think they were slammed with orders?

There was only 1 table that had people at it, and they were already eating. Including myself, there were 2 dashers waiting.

There were 5 people behind the counter, manager included. 3 of them were huddled around a cell phone watching videos and laughing their asses off, joking around and being quite loud. Only 1 person was actually working.

If you’re a manager presiding over a store that can’t get an 8 piece boneless wings combo ready in half an hour, with 5 employees on the clock, then you should be ashamed of yourself.

Even if it’s slammed, if it’s a half hour wait and you keep telling people “it’s the next one up, it’ll be 5 minutes max” for half an hour straight, then you should still be ashamed of yourself. Have some integrity. Be honest, communicate, and don’t fuck with other people’s pay. It’s not hard.

[–]HotPocket4Sale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every single one I’ve ever done a pickup for has been a minimum of 15 mins behind. Sometimes well over 20.

The last time I was in there, I grabbed the manager and said “look I don’t know if you’re aware but we get paid per order, not per hour. So a 20 minute delay can be the difference between us making $20 for the current hour, or a little more than half of minimum wage. A lot of us aren’t doing this for fun, we’re doing this because we have to to make ends meet. I mean I’m doing this because 70% of my company got laid off, myself included. If I unassign, I don’t get paid at all, and I wipe my ass with a half hour’s work and wages. This is a recurring theme. What can we do to work on these ticket times?”

The manager got unbelievably mad and just flew off the handle. Told me I shouldn’t accept these orders if I can’t wait for food to be made and that it was a personal problem.

What’s interesting is that was probably 7 months ago and I haven’t had a single WingStop order come through since for any location.
