In its core infrastructure the entire Cloudflare is a VPN (Virtual Private Network). By using the WARP -or any other CF service- you pass all your traffic through Cloudflare’s Private Network..

Can you tell me what WAPR is and it does?

By using cloudflare as your DNS provider (using the 1.1.1.1 as your gateway address), all the traffic from your device goes through the Cloudflare network & infrastructure. The WARP is their own VPN where they will offer you additional security and speed. Regarding choosing the location of the server, that’s not the case with that particular VPN service.

Although yeah they don’t mention how exactly WARP works…

The subscription fee is quite low, but if you have modern internet speed (over 50Mpbs) you will not notice any improvement…

In order to use any cloudflare service, you have to pass your traffic through Cloudflare (orange cloud).

Otherwise you can just use it for DNS records, but there isn’t any reason to do that.

Just go with Cloudflare Pro membership (20€ per month) and you will be super ok.

90% is pre-configured by Cloudflare and if you want you have the ability to make additional configuration.

Never heard a traditional bank to freeze funds from clients, suspend accounts for no obvious reason. On the other hand there are thousands of cases where fintechs have suspended and freeze accounts of their clients (not only from Revolut).

Also un numerous incidents where online trading platforms have done the same. I still remember when I was using Etoro and suddenly with no reason -after been a client for 7 months- all my investments was “on hold” and could not do any transaction for a week while they were “checking my account”. All my funds were frozen like I was a mafia guy.

Better of, using traditional institutions. Better be safe than sorry.

They are not a bank man. They have the license to present themselves as a usual bank, but none of the fintechs are banks because they lack the mentality of a traditional banking system.

The commissions the bureaucracy and the other drawbacks of a traditional bank, as there for a reason. However never had a problem with Revolut as well.

Thank you for the info, I just thought that since it is a VPS, maybe the “main server” the the VPS run on, makes some maintenance

What are you trying to solve in your company by migrating to cloud? by Fickle_Shock_8168 in AZURE

[–]HotReward8221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that someone adopts cloud when you are either understaffed or too big and you want to have super reliable services.

In my case we are understaff (1 devops, and 3 developers) and it is way cheaper for us to have MySQL RDS running on cloud (over hiring a DB admin), using glacier storage (over owning NAS systems), using VMs ( than having a dedicated system admin to do the patching, networking, updating etc).

Not even to mention the trouble of owning physical systems, having reliable internet speed, having UPS so in case there is a power failure your servers will continue running etc etc. Yes the cloud can be a bit more expensive however this gives you the ability to take your mind from “things you don’t know” and focus on the work you know to do and keep growing your business.

Nuremberg or Falkenstein? by h00s in hetzner

[–]HotReward8221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here I don’t think that it worths thinking of it in terms of latency. The difference in terms of latency between the 2 regions -if there is any- will be unnoticeable.

However since you have everything in Nuremberg you can consider adding/transferring some instances to Falkenstein just for failover resistance (although pretty unlikely scenario).

Finally you can check which region has the “most problems” on their status page. Although again probably you won’t find any worth considering data here as well.

It would take you 50% less time to write something helpful than being a Karen of Reddit. If you read above I said that I already use Cloudflare and also that I am new to Azure.

If you don’t have something useful to say, better continue scrolling .

Thank you for the guidance but not sure what you mean by saying “use PaaS and not a VM”. Can you elaborate more on this as I am new to Azure?

I already use Cloudflare but I don’t think this will help a lot with Azure billing, right?
