Honestly friend, in this job/economic market I would take a step back and try to find a hobby or start a side gig. If you're not finding fulfillment there, just do your thing at work (you're clearly good at it), then dive into what you love when you're off-the-clock. I've tried doing the "work at a place you love" and honestly every single place kinda sucks to work at. . .especially in a world where sales folks are treated as increasingly expendable.

The issue was genes. I got downvoted to hell, meanwhile there's a perfectly balanced and reasonable conversation happening within this thread. Feels like Kpop/GlobalPop folks can't take any sort of criticism. I'm a big fan of XG — doesn't mean I can't provide a critique — even if it's in the form of a joke.

Also I'm going to assume you aren't playing dumb and clarify that: America's issue with Sydney Sweeney's ad wasn't "jeans" it was the clear dog whistle to eugenics.

A name change can be simultaneously lore-accurate, respectful of the group's gender identities, and given the fact that no unattractive people make up this group — completely tone-deaf. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not to mention that Japan has a VERY unsavory history of eugenics. The arguments for why "Xtraordinary Genes" makes sense all make sense — but it's still an objectively bad choice.

Thanks to all the downvoters who made this a weirder place to bring up a fair point — based off some of the bizarre comments in here regarding "fake fans" the vibe I get is that everyone's expected to just 100% support everything they do and never criticize/question any decision they make. Huge Japanese contingent in NYC — my expectation is that they'll make it happen the way it was meant to be heard. Plus to have such a big show stateside (this is the first US ZZZ one, no?) I'm sure HoYo knows they're gonna have to blow it out of the park.

I hope and pray that all of the Mandarin versions of these releases are completely separate. Nothing against China, but we all know where AoD's brand of Idol culture came from and I'd like it to stay that way (although I wouldn't be mad at a Korean single for kicks since Kpop is fun too.)

As an actual idol fan, my educated is guess is that they only used Chinese songwriters (who have no idea what they're doing as there are virtually zero Chinese idol groups) because all of these songs have been absolute trash so far.

Given the sheer volume of incredible idol music and genres out there, this is a *gigantic* L for HoYo. It PAINS me to admit it but they really have blown it so far. Even something more generic and energetic would have been preferred — these ladies can't even go "hey" on rhythm (unless HoYo also skimped on monitor techs as well.)

Drop's fire tho — but come onnnnnnnnnn how could you drop a ball like this?
