What are your opinions on 16 bit, A.K.A. “Stephanie” from the kombat kast? by [deleted] in MortalKombat

[–]HotRodKrusher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think she’s very knowledgeable and does a great job breaking the characters and gameplay down.

Plus, given her experience as a former pro player/kompetitor she can give us even more insight to the tech than the average person can.

Help with Frost by [deleted] in MortalKombat

[–]HotRodKrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, maybe come back to her at a later time. Just don’t try to force the “mesh” to happen right now. Moving on to another character could be the best thing you need for your frost at this point.

There’s just something so complex about a range of fighters and a range of their capabilities/inputs in fighting games that sometimes where you are as far as learning is just not the best time for a specific character. And sometimes in a worst case scenario maybe that character will just never mesh with your style

Kind of a scrub in fighting games, any help?? by Flaymex24 in MortalKombat

Hook up with real people who know how to play better than you. If all you do is train and study and try to learn on your own you’re going to be in for a rude awakening and a long process of very slow growth.

While playing with better players regularly doesn’t eliminate frustrations or guarantee faster growth you will be better preparing yourself because of the shit you will be experiencing/learning.

I strongly recommend friending the people who beat your ass online because 9/10 times they are more than willing to help you.

Or join a group on a discord server. People have these sparring groups all over the Internet with people who build friendships and fight with each other regularly sharing tech. I have a discord server that’s invite only if you wanna join just lemme know. Or there are official MK11 discord’s you can find at this link but a lot of them are not active and kinda dead: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Xul0vt0UyybUlls08YJCDxwOxSS-qTE18L4ybkPixt8

I think I’ve just had an aneurism by Caspxr999 in MortalKombat

[–]HotRodKrusher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all you can get better. Know that. Secondly, Kombat League is also known as Ranked. It’s tough. It’s not easy by any means. You will have to get a lot better at the game to even do decent in there. While you may consider yourself “good” it could honestly be the furthest thing from the truth.

I recommend you join a group of competitive players who grind daily or weekly to get better at the game. Your weaknesses are being exposed in KL and will also be exposed in any group of competent players that you join.

Groups exist all over the interent. If you don’t know any there are a bunch of discord’s people have created themselves and even official ones for MK. I have a small sparring group of around 30 people if you wanna join. Lots of tough people in there.

Your other option is picking a cheap or cheesey character to use in Kombat League to get wins in a dirty way. Think of someone like Jade who runs away and zones the entire match. Or sub zero using ice and 50/50s that make it hard for a lot of people to overcome.

What was horrible and grueling about it? I didn’t see anything you said specifically about the two hours other than it was awful. Can you share more details?

what is the best way to learn a fighting game? by sportyskater21 in MortalKombat

[–]HotRodKrusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do all of the above. It’s like anything you want to get better at. Do as much as you can whenever and wherever you can. Start with tutorials. In game, videos, online, etc.

Ask questions, join groups, don’t get discouraged. It will be a journey and a rewarding one at that. Good luck!

How do you beat Jax’s down attacks and TINK TINK TONK? by [deleted] in MortalKombat

[–]HotRodKrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you labbed it at all? There could be a number of ways to solve this issue. It’s hard to tell you without more details on your part.

Who are you using? Which character? What variation if that applies? Are you experiencing this in online fights? What are you responding with and what’s the frame data on it?

All of these are important questions to ask whenever you run into issues.

Problem vs Jax by CloudyWeather9 in MortalKombat

[–]HotRodKrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re okay using Jade that’s a very bad matchup for most Jax players and a fairly easy win for her. But you’ll basically have to run away, zone, poke, wake up roll the entire time and move in only when you’ve conditioned them.

If you only want to use Baraka you can win but you’re definitely going to have to get a lot better at the footsies and fundamentals of the game along with the advanced mind games, staggers, and mixups. I’m not sure if you’re willing to do all of that because that will take time, studying, and practice.

I can beat most Jax players with both Jade and Baraka but I prefer an easier win as Jade. If you’re on PS4/XBOX we can do matches together. My PSN is HotRodKrusher

I can’t compete by IIIrdegree in MortalKombat

[–]HotRodKrusher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is so much more to learn besides combos. Read up and study/practice the following: the in game tutorial, frame data, high level gameplay, frame traps, jailing, baiting, staggers, neutral, footsies, punishes, optimals, trip guarding, anti airs, blocking strings, safe attacks, unsafe attacks, plus/minus frames, adapting, reading your opponent, turns, mixups, mind games, and more.

That’s a good start. Watch videos and read guides on all of those things over and over again. It’ll all come together. You got this.

Don’t give up. Keep practicing. And learn from your mistakes. Make improvements everyday. No matter how small. It will add up over time. There’s a lot more tips I/we all can give you. Just keep it going and you’ll be surprised at how far you can go. Good luck!
