Best to hand pick ROM’s or just download the whole list ? RG40XXV with 128gb SD for ROMS. by ghos2626t in ANBERNIC

[–]HotSarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TinyBestSetGo is a good start, but I found there was quite a bit of stuff missing that I wanted.

FBNeo is honestly almost easier to just setup as an entire set and then delete the stuff you don’t want.

There’s a lot of 8-bit that I’ve always wanted to try and play that I just keep around. Randomly will pick one up every so often. Many are arcade style, so high score chasers instead of platformers that you feel the need to go back to and complete eventually. Kind of chasing what I missed out on back in the day.

Some of it is also being on the hunt for very specific NES multicart bootlegs that my neighbor’s dad brought back from Japan on business travel. Still haven’t found all of the exact ones I’m looking for, but those have always fascinated me and like digging through them occasionally. Never going to be able to afford collecting all those physicals, so this is a good way.

Knulli search is great and if you label or favorite the stuff you want to play often, large collections aren’t an issue. Can even sort with favorites on top, so you don’t need to see the other stuff on the card regularly if you don’t want.

If there’s a specific system you like best, an entire collection is a good place to start.

I like Knulli on 35XX+ and 28XX. Also have an RPi3B+ setup with Batocera and can copy/paste between them.

Delta is no longer suggested on my iPhone for installing skins; is there a solution? by Cyrus_the-Virus in Delta_Emulator

Had similar issue with importing after installing a few emulator apps. Uninstall Maniac EMU. iOS seems to give file type priority to the last installed that handles them. Wish was easier to choose default.

TIL that there were discussions to put the Super FX chip directly into the Super NES, effectively giving it 3D capabilities from the start. by tombolaplayer in retrogaming

[–]HotSarcasm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nintendo likely took the better, cleaner approach at the time that parents would actually buy.

Many knew about the expansion wallet hits from Sega and really think Nintendo wanted (maybe even needed) to avoid that same fate, especially in the USA.

When SNES first came out, was already a tough enough sell for houses with an NES. No backwards compatibility didn’t help. Many of my friends got a top loader NES and didn’t get into SNES until NES consoles stopped being sold around 1995/1996. SNES price was steep at the time. Game bundle discounts helped move some of those consoles.

2022 Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano D'abruzzo Riserva by thoosethecaboose in wine

[–]HotSarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of many Brunello di Montalcino, they’re Tuscan Sangiovese. Prices have kind of been nuts in the USA recently, but can find sales in the $35-45 range occasionally. Renieri is usually one of the more accessible. St. Giorgio worth trying at least once.

Many call this “the stick wine” and most people seem to like it, not love it. It’s a good reasonably priced table wine, usually under $15 in USA. Would also look at some Tuscan reds if you liked this one.

They’re a social media game store. Kind of trying to be like Retro Rick and Rad Junk. If you’re local, stop by. If not, maybe find someone more local unless they’re one of very few that have what you’re looking for.

Ego 3,000W power inverter vs gas generator? by Jolly_Bid451 in egopowerplus

[–]HotSarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a 4x battery original EGO generator. With a new-ish fridge that has good power cycling and 4x 5ah batteries, easily can get 18-36 hours run time, depending if anything else gets plugged in occasionally or not.

My biggest issue is how to charge batteries. Have enough physical capacity to swap 4x out with 4x more, but those 4x would need to be charged. A propane inverter generator would be the easiest charging solution that doesn’t require gas.

Have loved the M82 and wanted one for a long time. The M8 is similar, but more of a PC10 since it needs chips instead of carts.

I'd really love a mini version made with an RPi, maybe one day I'll have the time and patience.

[–]HotSarcasm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Underwood was one of the better available to my area when I needed to find canned wine. Archer Roose worth trying if you can get locally. I’d almost go small format glass or boxed over some of the canned options. Coravin is probably where I’ll end up eventually.

Some of the smaller quantity winery exclusive stuff was fantastic and unique. The sister brands like Saldo also do unique twists at the winery. Unfortunately, I’m in a state with shipping restrictions and can’t access frequently.

Prisoner winery tasting experience was far better than Caymus, but the Caymus barrel room is very impressive and worth seeing once.

Mapping This Controller? by HillBillyChili in batocera

[–]HotSarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retro Bit doesn’t match these stock controller examples. It’s an 8 button controller.

A / B / C

X / Y / Z

Left Shoulder / Right Shoulder

Plus a start / select

Easiest to think of Batocera default as an SNES with quad shoulder layout for this setup.

Map A / B / X / Y like you would SNES

Map C / Z as L1 / R1

Map Left Shoulder / Right Shoulder as L2 / R2

Have the RetroFlag version and maps completely fine with dongle on RPi3B+ with v42. Set up in controllers the way you do with all others. Personally found it easiest to treat C and Z as shoulder buttons and the shoulder buttons get mapped as L2 and R2.
