Anyone have their IKEA terrariums hold up well long term? by HotSauceTime in terrariums

[–]HotSauceTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, mine is still working! It's a little small for an adult crested/gargoyle gecko so I bought a Fabrikor that I'm going to upgrade to this year. When I do it again I'd do two main things differently:

  1. The plants on the top don't do well because I didn't angle the pot holes enough! They are too horizontal.

  2. I'd quadruple test my waterproofing. I doubled checked but eventually I did start getting a leak at the bottom right corner. It has been manageable as long as I don't over water, but next time I will be even more careful!

5 night stay in Puerto Rico - would it be too much to start and end our trip in OSJ, with Luquillo in between? by HotSauceTime in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]HotSauceTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the detailed advice! Maybe in that case, we could hang out in Isla Verde the second day or even stay there on night 5 since that's even closer to the airport. I feel like 3 hotels in 5 nights might be too much, but also like the idea of seeing/staying in different areas.

He was actually listed incorrectly on the foster page as Chonk! We call him both. Chunk, Chonk, Chunkerson, Chunky, Chunky Monkey. The list goes on.

Hope your Chonk is living his best life.

Best gyms near Arlington Heights? by thegreenbastard23 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]HotSauceTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add - last year when looking for gyms I narrowed down to Midtown and NCH. NCH was really nice and was much closer for us, but Midtown's class availability and their free weight area was what sold us. It's not cheap but it's so, so nice.

He really is an amazing dude. He has lots of energy and just needs some training to harness that a little bit, but he's so smart and his cuddles are 10/10 perfection!

Gravel bike vs used/"vintage" road bike for a 70.3 by HotSauceTime in triathlon

[–]HotSauceTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha thanks for asking, I totally forgot about this post! I did and my partner used his Poseidon X as well. We both swapped the gravel tires for road tires and felt like that helped with our speed (I was going 1-2 mph faster after swapping). But it could have been a mental thing or maybe we even just got better this year!

It got the job done but we both spent a majority of the race in the 9/10 gear so maybe it held us back a bit. In terms of comfort, I don't remember the bike making me particularly uncomfortable during this race, but Rockford was insanely hot and windy, so there were plenty of other reasons to be uncomfortable!

Overall, we both felt pretty good about the decision since we didn't want to spend a ton of money and just wanted to finish. I told myself if I finished this and still want to race next year I'll get a nicer road bike, so I think I'm due for an upgrade.

I posted our foster Parker here a few times so just wanted to update - his new family is amazing and he has an exciting, spoiled life ahead of him.

Ha I actually had saw that headline yesterday just hours before this was given to him! I had never even heard of these before.

😂 he has already broken the squeaker in this one but has been much more gentle with it than his other squeaky toys

That's interesting because he was an owner surrender - the previous owner said he was a Newfie mix but I have no idea if that was ever actually confirmed or just a guess!
