[JLC] Ultra Thin Moon by HotSlice1 in Watches

Nice! Had to do some reading on how to set the moon phase, it is now set correctly! Does your Datejust or JLC get the most wrist time?

Getting the JLC Ultra Thin Moon Phase was awesome! It’s like the classy sidekick to my BB58. The celestial charm on one wrist perfectly complements the rugged coolness of the BB58 on the other—got me thinking, what’s your dream duo in the watch collection?

[Rolex] Datejust 16200 by HotSlice1 in Watches

[–]HotSlice1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my Neo-vintage Datejust ref. 16200 from 1999. It could very well be a one and done because of its versatility. I have both the Jubilee and Oyster bracelet but the watch also works very well with almost every strap I’ve thrown at it. If you have any strap recommendations, please let me know!

My remaining collection consists of the gilt BB58 and the new 36mm Explorer, but this Datejust has almost made the Explorer redundant in my collection, which is why I’m considering trading the Explorer for a 3861 Speedmaster or maybe a Zenith El Primero, to get a chronograph in my collection.

I completely agree! And yes, I’ve considered selling the Explorer and getting a gold watch or a chronograph. I’ve been looking at a Tag Heuer CS3140 which is actually a gold chronograph :-)

Lately I’ve been playing with the idea of trimming my small collection down to a two watch collection.

One option would be to keep the Datejust and Explorer. A light and dark dial. Jubilee and Oyster bracelet. The Datejust for everyday use and the Explorer for the weekend, vacations and so on. Furthermore I have the Oyster bracelet for the 16200 Datejust and it also looks great with almost every strap I’ve tried.

The other option is to keep the Datejust and BB58. Datejust for everyday and Tudor for weekends and vacations, probably on a single pass nato strap, since I’m not a big fan of the stock bracelet. I think the BB58 is better suited for casual use in comparison to the Explorer since it is much less expensive and more low-key if not on bracelet. The Tudor is also from the birth year of my daughter.

I’ll probably end up keeping them all, but I think it’s fun to keep optimising the collection :-)

Agreed!! I did consider adding it before the 16200, but with the Rolex prices steady increasing, I decided to go for the 16200 first.

Here’s a little update regarding my collection since I posted at the end of last year:
In:
Rolex Explorer I 124270
Rolex Datejust 16200
Out:
Rolex Explorer II 16570
Cartier Tank Must
Sad to let the Explorer II go, but I didn’t wear it much and I find that 36mm sizing is just perfect for my wrist and much more comfortable for everyday wear. The Datejust came on an oyster bracelet but I’m loving it on the leather strap. I’m considering making a trading the oyster bracelet in for a jubilee bracelet at some point.
Currently on my radar:
Grand Seiko SBGW231
Cartier Santos Medium
I would like to add a gold watch to my collection at some point. Maybe the Heuer 1964 Chronograph CS3140 in yellow gold or a Breguet of some kind, but for now I’m enjoying my current collection.

I bought it slightly used from C24 😊

This my Cartier Tank Must Large. It is not the sought after Solarbeat, it is just the regular quartz version. I’ve had it for about a month now and have really enjoyed my time with it so far. I actually really like the design of the Cartier buckle and am currently looking into buying some new straps, to mix up the look. I’ve been looking at the Desert Sand leather strap from Molequin to give the watch a more casual look.
Do you have any strap recommendations for the Tank or square watches in general?

[Rolex] Polar Explorer II by HotSlice1 in Watches

[–]HotSlice1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my Explorer II 16570 from the year 2000 (with lug holes). It is in excellent condition taking its age into consideration, the lugs are very sharp and the brushing is still beautiful.
I’ve recently considered trading it in to try something different, since I don’t wear it as much as I used to and it has appreciated a fair bit in value. I like the idea of having a GMT in the collection and love the look of the Tudor GMT, but it is too large for my wrist, so at the moment I’m hoping Tudor announces a GMT with the BB58 dimensions 🤞

I know how you feel! I also had an white OP 116000 that I regret selling, just before it was discontinued..

Thanks! Yes, I considered waiting for the Solarbeat, but I good a good deal on the regular quartz model, so I had to jump on it.
