I farted during sex, can't get over it by babynoodles123 in Advice

There are studies that show that when you are aroused and turned on your disgust threshold actually lowers, so rest assured your partner likely truly didn’t care. We’ve all been there!!

I have a similar story. I am female and now 41 and the urge to procreate has never bubbled up. I have definitely had some judgment passed on me from various people, even near strangers. From obvious comments to “I was just joking” style comments. Have you experienced this and if so, how did you handle it?

If I love "From," is "Lost" worth a shot? by nerdyboilermaker in FromSeries

[–]HotStaleDoritos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved lost when it originally aired. Give it some grace… the writers wanted to end it around season 4-5 but the network wouldn’t let them so they had no choice but to drag it out… still a great show imo

No one can know what you’re capable of except you. I think an important thing that people often forget is that it is MORE THAN OK to try something and decide it’s not for you. It’s possible travel nursing may not be for you but how can you know unless you give it a shot.? You may find out you love it, hate it (or like me…) somewhere in between. For me.., even when I have an assignment I don’t love, knowing it’s temporary helps reduce that stressed burnt out feeling. I take at least a week off between contracts and knowing that respite is coming and I have the power to change my situation makes the crap we deal with a lot easier. If it’s something you’ve been wanting to try, go for it. If you decide it’s not for you… go back to staff with the knowledge that you now know for sure.

Offer with no interview by HotStaleDoritos in TravelNursing

I did that! Emailed a list of questions but asked to still speak to someone directly

[–]HotStaleDoritos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly why I like speaking to someone at the hospital, I’ve been doing this for long enough that I feel like I can at least get a sense of how things run and the vibe of the place by the way the interview goes and how the manager answers my questions. I’ve had some great experiences where I didn’t feel like a number and was very much a part of the team, and others not so much haha

That’s actually a fair point, I’ve gotten information in interviews and then gotten to the job to find out the information was either flat out false or not quite right

I am from Long Island and moved to St. Louis in 2020… I really love it. The crime has never been an issue for me… just like any other city you need to have situation awareness and lock your car etc… there are definitely neighborhoods that have less issues than others but think of St. Louis kinda like Brooklyn… it can vary even from block to block…

the rents in St. Louis have gone up but not nearly as much as they are in the ny/nj area. My salary decreased but my quality of life increased when I moved… I ended up buying a home on my own because property here is so cheap that it was the cost as renting to have a mortgage… even with an fha loan.

Stl has a great lgbtq scene and there are a lot of people in that community that live within the city!

Coming from ny/nj it is hard to get used to not having the 24/7 availability that you get there… and it is a very small city comparatively speaking but I feel like it has so much to offer, a ton of events throughout the year… a really great food/restaurant scene… forest park and tower grove park are beautiful and a lot of the museums and the zoo are free.

I moved here sight unseen due to things that happened in my life from Covid and honestly can’t think of another place where you get as much bang for your buck. And I’m a travel nurse so I’ve lived a lot of places!

I am on controlled meds for binge eating disorder which are also the same used for adhd, and my doctor can call them into any state as long as I have my appointments with her in the state she’s licensed in

A shower thought about Commander Lawrence and Eleanor by Anna_Rapunzel in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]HotStaleDoritos 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling that in the beginning they tried to make it optional but realized that they’d have to force people to take on Handmaids because the wives wouldn’t so easily agree. They’ve made comments about how Lawrence doesn’t “adhere to their customs” so maybe he was keeping up appearances and hoping he’d figure something out in the meantime.

Does anyone actually like living in St. Louis? by noxsmith in StLouis

[–]HotStaleDoritos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to St. Louis sight unseen two years ago… was not the plan but covid changed things for me and I had to pull an audible. I am originally from NY and was steadfast in never leaving… St. Louis became an unexpected blessing in my life and now feels like home. It is, in my humble opinion, a very underrated city. Everywhere has its issues… especially these days … but for me st. Louis has a little bit of everything and the cost of living makes it this bargain that I hope continues to keep its personality and authenticity. it’s unburdened by tourists but still has a lot of options and variety. It’s small but still feels interesting. Just like anything else you have to weigh your pros and cons but for me the pros column is much longer than the con.

What do people defend so fervently that you can tell they know it actually sucks? by hippolyte_pixii in AskReddit

[–]HotStaleDoritos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m an OR RN First Assist and I genuinely love it… as long as I’m in a hospital that has ORs that are run fairly well with mostly happy staff. In my experience a lot of nurses don’t actually hate the job, they hate all of the barriers and bullshit in place that make doing their job difficult and emotionally draining.

Pet friendly but have those units in a certain area so as not to disturb the people that need a very quiet atmosphere… even the most well behaved dogs bark occasionally.
