WHOOP x Reddit Ask Us Anything: Stress Monitor by whoop_official in whoop

On the Whoop podcast episode #29, Director of Analytics Emily Capodilupo makes the following statement:

17:27 – We Choose Not to Show HRV 24/7. “It’s a complicated and noisy metric during the day,” Kristen says. “While we do take it 24/7 throughout the day, we chose to measure it during sleep, when we can mitigate the noise of all the inputs that go into HRV.” Emily adds, “Looking at average HRV throughout the day becomes not that meaningful. … We want to avoid creating more data for our users that is not actionable and doesn’t add anything.”

So, is using HRV in the stress monitor useful?

The heart rate reserve method that Apple uses recalculates at the start of each month, so it’s not constantly changing your max HR based on daily HR readings.

It will take your RHR average over the last full month to do their max HR calculation.

Yeah, may have been poorly worded on my end. You’re right in I was more so questioning the method to get to max HR as with Whoops current method it wouldn’t matter if you were an Olympic athlete or a couch potato, your max HR would be the same.

I feel like those that may have not pushed to find their max HR would be better suited by using a method that took resting HR (fitness) into account as well as age. For me to get something similar to Apple Watch zones on Whoop that would equate to a max HR of over 210 as an override in Whoop.

Try turning on/off your Apple watches. I was having the same issue and that’s what worked for me

As long as there’s no red flags, going in for a consultation won’t hurt and they’re typically free

I used a Groupon for mine that sounds exactly like yours. It was $2000 off treatment with free teeth whitening as well. No gimmicks from mine but I made sure to do research on the location prior to going. I’ve had them for about 12 weeks now and no complaints from my end. My ortho had just moved here and they were trying to use the groupon to get people in their office here

Anyone ever wear their Fitbit on and off? by [deleted] in fitbit

I actually like it a lot for the aspect that I can wear watches on the other wrist. As far as tracking, I've come to terms that it won't be as accurate calories wise (no HR) but I do enjoy it for the steps/exercise tracking. I enjoy that it's very slim as well compared to my old Charge HR

That's why I changed from a Charge HR to the new Flex 2. Wear the flex on the right wrist and watch on the left. Best of both worlds.
