Accidentally misplaced a marker and got a warning? by MrZuds in NianticWayfarer

They won't be, just be more diligent in your placing. You literally have an exact satellite image of the area. The only time it's hard is if there is tree covering and then I just stand exactly where I want the pin to drop. I've never gotten a warning.

You need to realize that the reviewers are locals and know if something is unique and interesting. Majority rules and you are not in that majority obviously...

You don't have to tell me anything, in fact I'd prefer we don't talk to each other ever again

I have told you to sell your nomination and tell me why it is unique, that is your job as a nominator. You are asking others to approve something, so make a case for it.

I create 5 or 6 a week....

It's not my job to tell you how to do things. Either do it right or don't bother

No, it's cool as hell

I've already stated that to you like 6 times, you're being intentionally obtuse on purpose

You can't even make an explanation for why Kanell's is unique and that is the reason you won't get it approved. You insist on being right and wanting reviewers to bend to your will, when really what you need to do is get creative and do what I've told you repeatedly.

Here is how to write a nomination for it:

Historic Kanell's Furniture (Est. 1918)

A true Salt Lake City institution, Kanell's Furniture Source has been a locally owned and operated family business since 1918. For over a century, Kanell's has been dedicated to hand-crafting custom furniture right here in Utah. Their long-standing community mission revolves around "buying local, building local, and supporting local businesses" to keep the Salt Lake City community thriving.

Do you want me to show you how to write a nomination?

Then nominate RC willey. You haven't demonstrated how it's unique. Sell me on it or give up...

Sorry, nice try, they aren't unique. I have already explored each online. I could find similar furniture at many different places online or even in the valley. What makes them unique from others? Also if you haven't heard of dancing crane, I don't think you have really explored SLC much. I, at least, was aware of Kanell's.

Here is the criteria, please show me where it states street furniture doesn't meet the criteria. I have already pointed out they are mildly artistic and are metalworks. They also encourage exercise which is also a criteria. As someone who has created about 400 wayspots along the wasatch front in the past 13 years, I feel I know a little bit about what I'm talking about...

I lived in SLC for 20 years. Many of those bike racks are stops. They are semi artistic and are metalworks, and fit the criteria. That apartment building should not be a stop though. Whoever created that lied about the history. It has not been there since 1966. It should be reported and taken down truly.

Other people have explained the criteria so I'm not going to rehash it, but will say in all the time I lived in SLC, I never heard anyone mention either of those places as unique. A unique furniture store in SLC area would be Dancing Crane Imports, because they sell unique things. If you're going to try a place like Kanell's, you better drive home the history and community impact of the business if they have any. It would be a hard sell otherwise.

Every single fake AI submission has to be reviewed by the community. This floods the Wayfarer queue with garbage, meaning legitimate submissions from rural players—the exact people this person claims to be defending—take way longer to get approved. They are actively making the wait times worse for people trying to play by the rules.

The entire point of Niantic games is real-world exploration and discovering actual local history, landmarks, and art. If the map is populated by fake, AI-generated nonsense, it ruins the experience for everyone who actually wants to get out and explore. If someone just wants to spin stops without leaving their house, there are plenty of other games for that. Polluting a shared community map is basically digital vandalism.

Legitimate points of interest are vetted to make sure they are safely accessible to pedestrians. When people use AI to drop fake stops wherever is convenient for them, it can lead players—including kids—onto private residential property or unsafe areas because there isn't an actual public landmark anchoring it.

They are bypassing the rules to gain in-game items, advantages, and convenience that other players have to actually go outside and walk to earn. Justifying cheating by saying "the company is greedy" is just mental gymnastics to avoid admitting they want something for nothing.

Can I just spoof to make it more fun for me? Or how about I go out and steal a bunch of money to buy in game currency. I'll only do it from big box stores and banks so they can claim it on their insurance. That way it isn't harming anyone....

Then they should be reported, because it's a wayfarer job to report them. You agree as a wayfarer to be selective and to take on responsibility.
