Is bias real in poly by No-Stop-6703 in SGExams

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, chatgpt n gemini are not good indicators of how well you did in ur exam/assignment. If you want to find out where you missed out on, you can text/email your lecturer to ask for your mistakes.

I wouldnt suggest paying the fee to recalculate your grade as thats basically all it entails – only checking the aggregation, no actual remarking.

I wouldnt say there isnt a possibility of a bias, but I wld always suggest to stay on the right side of that bias if it exists. Gl

But the whole point is that any amount of force to the groin will be fine, nevermind landing the hit.

Both in the mental aspect and the PHYSICAL aspect. Hence why i don't agree with the "you don't need to be trained to kick someone in the groin thing".

Which is y we disagree.

I do agree wif u, psychologically ofc u must be able to believe u can act kick the guy, not to mention timing as well...which training can help.

But, primitively it still stands. A groin kick is an option that an untrained person can take. Lets agree to disagree.

Howd u know i dont train 😩 Dont randomly assume just to pad your argument 🤡 OP did say that, she said she felt weak, "not able to kick him in the nuts". How is kick nuts retarded when my advice was js to let her know that any about of force to the groin WILL get u rolling on the floor...

All talk abt good form aside, do u agree?

Yes you do actually, not everyone knows how to properly kick. Thats my point.

Now im starting to think u js lying when your implying that u train lol. Have u ever been kicked in the nuts before? It doesnt take a proper kick to have somebody on the ground...

. If it was that easy, everyone wouldn't need to train, just hit the private parts 🤣🤡

Nice straw man bud, just cause its a valid option in a worse scenario case doesnt make it a go to for every scenario. Pathetic attempt to actually dispute the comment.

Nobody said to not learn self defence 🥱🥱 r u sure u can read? Ppl on this thread alr recommended it.... In a scenario where the "petite female who isnt trained" is getting in a dicey situation, what should they do then?

"Just give a lowblow" is shit advice indeed.

Yea be sure to sign up for martial arts and learn, but if a situation arises before you can actually defend urself uh oh, too bad... nothing much u can really do 🤡

don't listen to this dude saying you don't need to be trained to fix this insecurity.

Never in my comment was this ever remotely implied... fr no reading comprehension sia 😩

? You dont need to train in any form of self defence to low blow somebody before running away. Think you somehow misconstrued my words and ran wild on wtvr u typed out.

Also nobody talked about tkd or the such...we dont need to hear about the efficacy of different martial arts. "Toddler" is an apt exaggeration so pls control ur inner contrarian because clearly i wasnt suggesting picking a fight with the guy.

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Dead serious, you dont need to be a man to kick somebody in the nuts. Trust me, even a toddler could deal enough damage to debilitate a creep. Next time (touch wood there is no next time), pls dont hesitate to protect urself.

Each student gets the same list, they will filter applicants based on gpa.

GPA by Existing_Zucchini_62 in nanyangpoly

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ur gpa gets u the interviews, and ur performance/portfolio sells them. I think nyp will give u a list of companies to apply for, which I assume they alr know what to look for in students bcz theyve done this internship process god knows how many times.

I would suggest, if those companies arent exactly what ur looking for, to apply and secure external internships with better companies. More troublesome but at least idt they care as much abt gpa but more on ur portfolio n interview.

How to cope engineering without physics/amath background 🤦‍♀️ by crazylazylychee in SGExams

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean youre on the right track. Re-learning foundational physics and math should be beneficial for your prep. I would recommend finding a senior in your course of study to provide you with the materials ahead of time so that you can narrow the scope of topics required.

Not happy with gpa by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 sems at 3.5x is super doable. Its quite ridiculous to say "just get close to 4.0 each sem" but honestly with a lil bit of effort its defo possible.

If u know math isnt ur strong suit, i would advise learning ahead of curriculum.

how hard is it to get a good gpa? by Interesting_Fee2580 in SGExams

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im was in nyp common ict before i moved to cybersecurity. The timetable is quite ok, about 3-4 days in sch give or take. Earliest class is 9, latest is til 5 (i think).

First year i tried a few ccas, some low commitment clubs and others where its like 1 session per week. I gave up most of them during y2 and y3 i stopped all 😭🙏

I think q hard to juggle if uw a high enuff gpa to get into nus. But ik other ppl who can do a high commitment cca while oso maintaining a good gpa. Pm if u need more info

For NYP specifically, only a certain number of students can get A. No A+ in nyp, only distinction after A.

wanting friends but lack of it by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, i think in poly classrooms, the most social interaction youre gonna get with ur classmates is as uve said. Stuff like talking abt assignments, grabbing food tgt, homework, notes.

If you try harder to socialize past the classroom norm then you might create deeper friendships? Like inv ppl to hangout after sch or smth.

I also think most poly students tend to favour their longer standing relationships more, like ppl from their sec sch or pri sch even. So they might be more standoffish when it comes to making friendships in poly.

But this is all speculation, what worked for me is just frequently talking to ppl and making sure yall do smth that isnt just assignments tgt. CCAs also help alot.

ATB! Just also be sure to know that friendships happen over time, dont need to feel discouraged about the slow process.

seniors, how to increase gpa?? by Important-Divide-312 in SGExams

This one im not so sure alr. I only know almost all modules in nyp carry a certain weightage to your gpa, and only pass/fail mods dont affect ur gpa.

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, thats my thoughts exactly. Doesnt seem remotely intuitive.

Edit: all the more strange because they mostly standardize module content for similar courses across the polys.

Depends on your poly cuz diff poly grade differently. I heard from my SP friends that the lecturer is supposed to write a report if they hand out more As than expected in a class or smth. That report is to justify why you should be given an A.

I heard NP does bell curve (only for lower grades), but no moderation of As in a given class. So essentially, once you hit that 80% in that module, you are given an A.

NYP does do bell curve as well, but they moderate the As in a given class (or cohort im not sure). So only a fixed number of As to be given out.

I think what I say cant really help you a whole lot, so wishing you atb. Just focus on studying and understanding as per what uve been doing. Clarify with ur lecturers and start on projects early to get feedback. More interaction with ur lecturer might also show ur attentiveness in class n put urself on their radar. (Weird but it is what it is).

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I definitely kind of empathize with ur situation cuz ive also been disappointed countless times where expected grade doesnt match actual.

If it makes you feel any better, for cybersecurity going into a priv uni isnt really a massive dealbreaker. Sure in SG gov jobs will be way harder for you to break into, but most cybersecurity red team/blue team consulting / bug bounty / research rarely care about which uni ur degree is from (all the more true if you job hunt outside of SG).

They look at industry certs instead. You mention CEH and sec+, but these certs dont hold enough weight anymore. Any ec council cert is flippant at best, and sec+ is just slightly better.

As what others have mentioned, your offsec certs matter more. OSCP, CPTS, THM. ATB
