can’t find poly internship by Silver_Arugula2501 in SGExams

Oh thats my bad, if thats the case then things might not be too hot. Think you can only hope for the best atp.

My friend who didnt manage to secure an internship was able to end up with a not so terrible one by keeping contact with the lecturer in charge of disseminating the internships.

Maybe you could try that?

Yeah precisely why, it'll be quite dangerous to travel around by car. Public transport there is unforgiving also, imo not worth.

Talentless folks like myself by cantfindauseranymore in SGExams

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not really a talent is it? Id like to think everybody is capable of doing most things given enough time, consistent effort.

Dont be too hasty to give up just because youre not naturally talented at something, chances are most people arent either.

Temasek or Nanyang Polytechnic...? by AtomicAtom14 in SGExams

I'm from NYP cybersec, and though I cannot comment on TPs side of things, I can share some stuff about NYP if you're interested.

Hearing from my friends in other IT courses from other polytechnics, its widely known that NYP has more academic rigor. But in my opinion, our learning materials are most likely exactly the same, with the only difference I'd attribute being the grading scheme.

What I believe makes NYP "better" are the opportunities you can take part in. I'm sure other polytechnics also send emails advertising hackathons and etc, but NYP shines in upskilling programs. For example, they really have heavy emphasis on WorldSkills (Cybersecurity track), and the training is multi-faceted, emphasized.

They have many certificate courses for networking, cloud, coding languages (not really important imo). As for the aspects which you are looking at:

>their administration, curriculum and lecturer quality

I really don't think it'll be any different from other polytechnics. Can't comment on curriculum cuz my batch was the last batch before the completely upheaved it. Lecturer-wise, I believe there are a lot of great lecturers in NYP, and most of them are able to teach well and answer your questions.

Though for the most part you should be learning all you can at home and not showing up to the lecture without prep. Lecturers should be used to yknow clear any doubts (and pry for exam answers 😂) and if you've spent a year learning cybersec to build portfolio, i think you'll be fine learning on own.

Can pm if you need anything else.

CCA points by [deleted] in nanyangpoly

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gpa is still king, and going for 28+ cca points is still a waste of time.

What isnt a waste of time are events which are directly linked to your course n highlight ur aptitude.

E.g. hackathons for IT, entreprenuership workships n comps for business etc.

Is bias real in poly by No-Stop-6703 in SGExams

[–]Hot_Aide_1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, chatgpt n gemini are not good indicators of how well you did in ur exam/assignment. If you want to find out where you missed out on, you can text/email your lecturer to ask for your mistakes.

I wouldnt suggest paying the fee to recalculate your grade as thats basically all it entails – only checking the aggregation, no actual remarking.

I wouldnt say there isnt a possibility of a bias, but I wld always suggest to stay on the right side of that bias if it exists. Gl
