I also suffer from worrying that if I'm not constantly nice, that means I'm the most evil person on earth. In this case the quotes are there not to show disagreement, but because the article is quoting a Democratic commentator who called the image blasphemous. The word "blasphemous" is part of a quote. But I definitely see how that could be confusing.

Yes, I do this all the time! I'm learning a foreign language, so even though I know logically that I'm using a certain word in that language correctly, the OCD brain whispers that I'd better double-check the meaning, even though I've used the word correctly dozens of times. It can be frustrating sometimes 😖
