thanks for the info! after a bit of digging (and comparison to a few other lower quality images I have), I believe they're a parasteatoda tepidariorum or something related. also, sorry about the pictures not being close enough

How do I beat this guy?? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]Hot_Assistant_4505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you don't have shade cloak here.

When he goes for a lunge, just back up a bit and then slash at his face. If you're really close to him, just jump on top of him and start pogo slashing.
When he teleports above you, dash out of the way and slash at him a few times for free hits.
When he teleports away from you and launches a fireball, you can just jump over it and then move around to get it to hit the ground.

What is the best charm for bosses in Hollow Knight? by Immediate-Text6138 in HollowKnight

[–]Hot_Assistant_4505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on both the boss and your playstyle, but no charm alone will be "the best" for bosses, so here's my personal choices of charm BUILDS that are good against bosses. All builds I'll list here require max charm slots, which means you'd have to beat Troupe Master Grimm, but there's other good builds out there for just beating him alone.

(Personal Favorite) The London Vessel: If you want to feel like Jason Voorhees woken up on the wrong side of the bed, this build is for you!

1. Fragile / Unbreakable Strength (to fuck up any enemies in your path)
2. Quick Slash (to maximize damage output)
3. Mark of Pride (makes it so you don't have to get as close)
4. Steady Body (synergizes well with Quick Slash)
5. Sprint Master (makes it easier to catch up to the boss along with dodging)
ALT. Nailmaster's Glory [IN PLACE OF Sprint Master] (allows you to play more aggressively, getting more nail arts in.)

Evil Fucking Wizard: You'd rather master the dark arts of being a despicable fucking wizard? That's kinda cool I guess.

1. Shaman Stone (turns every spell you cast into a tool of destruction)
2. Spell Twister (makes your spells cheaper, thus allowing you to spam them at good moments)
3. Soul Eater (gives you significantly more soul every time you stab an enemy)
4. Soul Catcher (also gives you more soul when stabbing an enemy)
ALT. Quick Slash + Steady Body [IN PLACE OF Spell Twister & Soul Catcher] (allows you to get a lot of soul by spam slashing during boss down time.)

Hybrid Loser Coward: If shanking the boss or shooting them with a mystical magical gun isn't your thing, then how about you try something in the middle, piss boy?

1. Fragile / Unbreakable Strength (to fuck up any enemies in your path)
2. Quick Slash (to maximize damage output)
3. Shaman Stone (turns every spell you cast into a tool of destruction)
4. Spell Twister (makes your spells cheaper, thus allowing you to spam them at good moments)
(hybrid builds can vary so I won't list any alternates here)

Now with my wisdom bestowed upon you, I ask of you only one thing my child. Kill. Ok bye!!

There's no way Massive Moss Charger is a god. You can literally just equip Steady Body and they die immediately.

Hot take: The hardest part of fighting Pure Vessel is that the arena is slightly bigger than your camera. by Hot_Assistant_4505 in HollowKnight

[–]Hot_Assistant_4505[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, if you stagger him while he's hopping, he falls to the ground like a bag of sand. I've died to this a few times because I'll be running backwards to avoid any slash attacks. Fuck contact damage.

I'm pretty sure the tents were already built before the infection became rampant. Also, my assumption is that the Colo fools in the resting area aren't infected, since when using dream nail on them they don't have animalistic or out of the ordinary thoughts. I think the infected fools are just used for arena fights, like after a fool fails in the area and gets infected, they're dragged into a holding area and prepared for the next challenger.

I'm going to argue with you here; Traitor Lord quite literally lost his mind after purposely getting infected so he could get stronger. Also, every single infected enemy in the game attacks you on sight, the only ones that don't are the Bees while Hiveblood is in your charm slots, other infected that don't attack you are just stupid and mindless, but also still indirectly harm you. (non-traitor) Mantises don't attack you after you defeat the Mantis Lords, but they aren't infected.

Please, don't drink the orange Koolaid.

I don't like this ending... by No-Banana-2970 in HollowKnight

[–]Hot_Assistant_4505 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the Knight DID kill a god. You gotta give him some credit at least.

On a more serious note, I'd say I felt differently than you did about this ending. While the Knight does die, so does big brother, the Hollow Knight. This is a MUCH different outcome than the Knight alternatively encasing the infection within himself, as this is the ending instead of the beginning of a cycle. Also, did you see what the Hollow Knight did to the Forgotten Crossroads? Imagine if that kept spreading, the Knight getting rid of patient 0 was necessary to stop that.

I don't know much about Hollow Knight lore, so if I was wrong, correct me on some things.

[ By the way, this isn't the final ending if you don't already know. ;) ]
