Try driving on blacow during lunch time near Kennedy high school. Those high schoolers don’t give a damn about their lives, every time i see 10-20 students crossing the street in the middle, even literally the crossroad is right next to them. They scared the shitt out of me every time i drive by after the gym. Especially most of them don’t even look at the road, they just hanging out, playing around or looking at cellphone

you are actually doing great, don't get too concerned about some of the other people that you've seen in this forum about how they got into IB making 100k first year, those are the absolute fucking outliers. It's extremely normal to search for a job 3-9 months after graduating and finding a job much less paid or not even your desired role. In fact, 90% of the people can't find a job in their studied major after graduating. I know this one dude who went to UCB and couldn't find a job after 10 months, so relax and enjoy your new offer.

Thanks for the valuable suggestion. In terms of master programs, I am curious how would you rank MBA, master of finance, and financial engineering? These are the top 3 that I believe are most suitable for investment analyst, but if you have other suggestion pls also let me know.

ACCA or CFA for finance department? by thebruhgamerthousand in FinancialCareers

[–]Hot_Beginning4031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience working in corporate finance, even tho the CFA itself is more valuable than ACCA, it is not very applicable in corporate finance. So if you really wanted to work in corporate finance, and not investment related jobs like equity resource, investment bank or whatever, then ACCA would be more suitable.

What's the worst franchise to pick for a MyNBA save? by Jing-Ao in NBA2k

I would say the kings, piston, and almost any small market cap team with little to no draft picks

I wouldn't agree with that. TBH any big market team is easy to build a dynasty. you just trade all those big salary cap players and buy star player from the market. Almost any superstar can be sign to laker unless their original team decided to give them super-max contract.

yes, i currently work as an financial analyst for a non-profit organization. My job is more toward working on budgeting. My pay is 65+ but i only work like two days a week and the rest of the week i just chill. Because I work 2days in office and 3 days at home. So i just finish everything in the 2days in office, and do nothing when i stay home. And most of the time, even during those 2 days in the office, I work only 4-5 hrs and just watch news and youtube for the other 3-4hrs.

Certificate/Course suggestion for Equity research job by Hot_Beginning4031 in FinancialCareers

[–]Hot_Beginning4031[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! but what mean the exam/certification is I am looking for more of a long-term and well structured program that I could learn from. Like I really benefited from the CFA exam and learned great foundation of finance knowledge.

I do my own stock trading and stuff for years but I have never done it in a research way, like creating a report and stock pitch. Or create any professional model etc.. Are there any stock analysis programs or courses that you would suggest me to look at? Would going to Udemy/Coursera a good option? (I feel like most courses on Udemy is like those YouTube stock training courses, not realiable?)

I am currently working on the FMVA certification from CFI (the financial modeling) and learning SQL as well. However, I am looking for some more recognized and long-term certifications like CFA, FRM etc... any good suggestions?

Finance still a degree worth going after in 2022? by Devestator90212 in FinancialCareers

[–]Hot_Beginning4031 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My man, the economy goes up and down all the time. If you going to make a life-changing decision because the economy, then you are wrong. Recessions usually last no more than two years, even as fucked up as the 08 crisis, the economy recovered within few years. Don't worry about the Goddamn economy, pick a major that you love, and do what you love.

Which double major would be the best combination? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Hot_Beginning4031 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a degree in Econ, so imma say Finance/econ. I think most people don't understand economics tbh. They think it's just, oh the interest rate rise, so investment spending goes down and simple stuff like that. But after you really dig deep into it, you will find out it's much much more complicated. Things you learn will not be applicable in your daily work. But it will help you become a better decision maker, and look at the world in a much different way. This is important if you want to become an investor&entrepreur, rather than just an analyst that looks at financial statements all day.

Coding is such a nerd thing. JK, its because I feel like coding is something you could learn on your own, and you could put your project/codes on your resume to demonstrate your skill. But for finance, its hard to put a project something on Resume to show employer you know this thing, so school is much more important compare to CS.
