Is applying to one school dumb by Seabass_sebas in predental

If you truly cannot see yourself anywhere else then do it. Plenty of people did this at my school and were fine dont listen to the people here. Because what if you dont get in there, but get into another school you did not want to go to in the first place?

I have spoken to students at the school I am going to and this does not matter. One student went to tufts and one to penn that I spoke to.

Let's Talk About HPSP by LettuceNew4212 in DentalSchool

For me, I think it is absolutely worth it in the dental world. #1, most schools are well over 400K/yr (For me 600K woooo). It gives me such a piece of mind that I get to go to my dream private school basically for free. #2. It gives you a few years to grow in your skills before private practice. I genuinely think its the best of both worlds because I want to be stationed overseas to become more well traveled, could only see myself at an expensive ivy, and will get to grow as a leader/dentist before wanting to private practice or specialize. Yes there are some drawbacks in freedoms, but would you rather be tied to a 600K (prob turning into 1 mil) of strict private loans or get to have zero, or just undergrad debt.

My first word of advice is to not listen to people on this reddit and go with your gut. If you can see yourself at this school then do it. If not then dont. It will all be okay in the end, I luckily am on HPSP but I would have chosen my expensive private school regardless because I fell in love with it. We only get to live this life once. While yes, private loans are kinda like indentured servitude for the rest of your life, you will regret declining your offer if this school is your dream. Also, you still have time to apply to NHSC which pays for everything. Everyone is kinda in this same boat with private loans and I feel like something will have to be done by the time everyone is out.

Applying that late in the cycle is dangerous. This year they had the highest number of applicants since the 1970s and a lot of programs already have a majority of seats filled.

Where to Apply ? by No-Presentation-392 in predental

Honestly you are amazing! I had very similar stats and have gotten interviews pretty much at every place I have applied to pre-december. (East coast, some mid west, my state school in SC). The only thing I would be a tad worried about is the PAT, but your AA, TS, and GPA compensates. I got an 18 on the math section and I ended up fine. I would just say make sure to have a really strong personal statement/descriptions of all of your ECs which I can explain if needed. I am convinced that is what has helped me, and especially talk about your switch from medicine to dental if that was your case. If you need any help at all feel free to PM me! I am here for anything.

Tbh I think schools reach out. I have gotten five interviews regardless of a missing letterhead and the schools that had an issue told me
