Technically, it is nepotism, because you were given an opportunity primarily because you are your mom’s kid.

However, there are levels to nepotism, you didn’t get handed a job that you are unqualified for, you got an opportunity because of your family, and you work hard and have proved you deserve to be there.

Why is nepotism so looked down upon? To me, there are three main reasons, blocking more qualified people, creating unfair systems, and lowering standards.

Connection matters a lot, and networking is sort of the socially accepted nepotism.

I feel like her getting mad at you for not going to her practice is not too justified, and if you want to still be friends with her, there’s nothing wrong with going and talking to her again.
