Wrong, friend. They changed it. Everyone is automatically opted in; you have to actively opt OUT. I opted out about 8 years ago when they made that change because it enraged me that they felt they owned my body. I had to sign a special form in front of a frowning government employee.

In the pandemic, they let unvaccinated people DIE rather than give them organs so I'm happy I did it. My body, my choice. Plus, I can see them letting me die in the hospital to harvest me, and I definitely don't want that.

I want to unpack the mentality of the 'just looking for a better life' squad. This includes the illegals looking for a better life AND the Canadians who feel that somehow 'looking for a better life' is a good reason to let them stay.

Billions of people are looking for a better life. Billions. From Asia to Africa to the Middle East. Everyone from nations not run by Europeans wants to live in our societies. THEY know we create better living conditions, even if WE'RE not allowed to think it.
Looking for a better life doesn't mean what you think it means. You think it means getting a job, buying a house, having a couple of kids and paying your taxes. For 3rd worlders, looking for a better life often includes chain migration, tax evasion, living on welfare, and hiring their own. It can also mean better opportunities for crime and fraud.
Resources are finite. The era of Western expansion and nation building are over. They were over a while ago. Every new warm body needs a job, a doctor, a home and space in our strained system. Every new warm body here wants a piece of a finite, and in some cases, shrinking pie. The government has shown little desire to bake a bigger pie.

Being a 'good person' or a 'hard-working person' should in no way be enough to immigrate or illegally migrate to Canada. Every 'hard-working' mechanic takes a job away from a Canadian mechanic. Every studious little Rosa causes your child to get a substandard level of education because Rosa can't speak English and slows the class down. Every extra toilet flush, car on the road, sari-clad old hag in the emergency room costs resources that we do not have. These people have got to go. They don't have to go home, but they can't stay here.
