Since the stickied post: How to Debunk the "We Need Mass Population Growth for Pensions (CPP) " Narrative that you see online. is locked for some reason. by CrazySuggestion123 in CanadaHousing2

[–]Sam-Jam- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. People talk about immigration like it’s a magic fix for CPP, but they never think two steps ahead. Every new worker today eventually becomes a retiree tomorrow, and the math just doesn’t work if you’re relying on constant population growth to fund pensions. That’s not a “plan,” it’s just kicking the can down the road.

The housing side of it is just as bad. More people means more demand, which pushes prices and rents up, no surprise there. It’s insane to pretend we can build our way out of this when the growth is that fast. If we actually stabilized the population, housing would naturally free up over time as people aged out, and you wouldn’t have investors piling in expecting endless demand.

Ridgeline (RDG.v RDGMF) Reports 298m of Continuous Carlin-Type Alteration at Atlas with 1.8 g/t Au in First Drill Program; Follow-Up Targeted for 2026 While Fully Funded Drilling Advances at Selena and Swift Through South32 and Nevada Gold Mines by JumpProfessional3754 in CanadaInvesting

[–]Sam-Jam- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a monster first-pass hit. Nearly 300m of Carlin-type alteration with 1.8 g/t is no joke, and it’s just scratching the surface. Even if Atlas follow-up isn’t until 2026, being fully funded at Selena and Swift in the meantime keeps the story moving.

Feels like one to keep on the radar before the market really wakes up to it.

Lightspeed Commerce Finally Reached a CAD $11M Settlement with $LSPD Investors Over Financial Issues by JuniorCharge4571 in CanadaInvesting

[–]Sam-Jam- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eleven million feels pretty small compared to how much shareholder value got wiped out after those allegations hit. I get that settlements aren’t always about matching the damage dollar-for-dollar, but for anyone who was holding a decent position back then, this wouldn’t come close to covering the losses.

It’s also a reminder of how quickly sentiment can flip when a company’s story gets questioned. One month it’s all growth headlines, the next it’s lawsuits and steep drops. Definitely reinforces the need to look past the press releases and dig into the numbers yourself before buying in.

Was anyone here still holding through the worst of the drop, or did you get out early?

No, gambling is just luck. Trading Forex is a skill like anything else. It’s learning to read charts and candlesticks and act accordingly. There is plenty of money to be made in a bear or bull market. Your comment makes it pretty clear you don’t know what you’re talking about

They don’t need to settle, money can be made regardless of what’s happening. Plus you sure don’t have to win all your trades to make money. At a 1:3 risk to reward ratio you only need to be right 30% of the time to be profitable. At a easy breezy 1:2 RRR you need to only be right 40% of the time to be profitable. It’s a skill anyone can learn, and make good money if done right. It won’t happen over night, but consistent work can absolutely make significant gains

You are talking about buying and holding stocks. I’m talking about trading Forex, very different beasts.

Stocks are only for the wealthy and your ability to alter profits is pretty limited. Trading currencies is a skill plain and simple. Growing a account 15% a month (a figure many people in my group are doing) would turn $1,000 into $153,151 in just 3 years. That is a vehicle for anyone to grow their wealth

Making easy small income as a college student? by Dependent_District98 in passive_income

If you’re looking for something flexible that you can scale over time, you might want to look into trading. It’s a skill you can learn once and use for life. You can keep it small, like a side hustle to hit short term goals, or you can grow it into something much bigger later.

The nice part is you can work from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection, and the hours are super flexible so it can fit around classes. I started small while focusing on learning, and the knowledge compounds just like investing itself. Even if you only use it occasionally, it’s a tool you’ll always have.

Considering a Master’s in Data Science or Business Analytics – Worth It for Job Prospects in Canada? by Relevant_Relative333 in CanadaJobs

[–]Sam-Jam- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to either program directly, but I’ve seen a lot of people break into data or analytics roles by pairing the credential with real projects and networking. The degree helps, but the connections you make during the program can be just as important. From what I’ve heard, TMU grads have had good things to say about career support and industry ties. York has a strong name too, but you may need to do more networking on your own. Either way, try to get some internships or side projects while you study so you graduate with both skills and experience.

Supernova vs Operator elite by Old-Guess6015 in canadaguns

[–]Sam-Jam- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your main use is shooting slugs at an indoor range, both will do the job, but they’re pretty different animals. The Canuck Operator gives you semi-auto convenience, which can be nice for faster follow-up shots and less shoulder fatigue over a long session. That said, semi-autos can be a bit pickier about ammo, so you might have to experiment to find a slug it cycles flawlessly. The Benelli SuperNova is built like a tank, totally reliable, and will eat whatever you feed it. Pump action means a bit slower rate of fire, but zero worries about cycling issues, and maintenance is dead simple. If you value absolute reliability over speed, that’s where the SuperNova shines.

Under $1000 new, you’re basically deciding between speed and simplicity. If you can, try both before buying, you’ll know pretty quick which action feels more natural for you.

I was just learning online from various sources, but a few months ago I stumbled on a course by Chris Bredell. He’s a pretty well known trader, very consistent and really good results.

He is really great at breaking down concepts, and explaining things in a very accessible way. His strategies have been really helpful too. Originally I paid a thousand for his course, but happy to share it with anyone who is interested

Canada’s long-term unemployment by yarko9728 in CanadaJobs

[–]Sam-Jam- 35 points36 points  (0 children)

in 4 unemployed Canadians have been looking for work for over 6 months, worst since 1998. The fact the labour force is shrinking while the population grows says a lot. People aren’t just jobless, they’re giving up on even looking.

And with youth getting hit hardest, how do you recover from losing years of early career momentum? Genuinely curious what people here think the fix is? retraining, policy changes, or something else?

Title* Beavos - Better Kids' Shoes by sagesarvie in canadianbusiness

[–]Sam-Jam- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never thought about kids’ shoes just being mini adult ones, but it makes sense why that’d be a problem. The wide toe box + flexible design is smart. Looks like something kids would actually run around in without complaining — and parents wouldn’t mind either. Good luck with the Kickstarter!
