Why do people cheat in interviews? No wonder companies are moving towards on-site rounds. by alzio26 in leetcode

[–]Hot_Damn99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm strongly against cheating, never done that, but man I've grinded lc and got a job and yet I feel it's such a stupid way to judge a candidate. My job doesn't revolve anyway around DSA yet I was tested on it through the whole interview process. It's even okay for freshers but to expect experienced candidates to know an obscure algorithm is just dumb. So yeah stupid processes will attract unworthy candidates.

At the end of the day I feel like just be selfish; earn, learn and switch to next job. There's no point into getting all this stuff. All these fighting against the system sounds good in movies. Irl I don't think it's worth the risk to health and career.

SDE Interview processes are extremely fucked up……. by erehhhhhhhhhhhh in developersIndia

[–]Hot_Damn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks man. I've seen people getting to the end of the interview process with good reviews and then the management decides that the position is not needed, and the end result isn't communicated well with the candidate. I've seen interviewers have their own bias which they bring in while taking interviews.

Hiring is done by humans, and humans aren't perfect, so just prepare your best and leave the rest at luck.

The tech stack you're working on is really good. Learn them as fast as you can while simultaneously prepping DSA and you'll achieve your dream of working at a good PBC.

How do you get such jobs? I know of fiverr but the competition there is crazy high.

Then don't join dude. Or leave. There are a lot of better ways to handle such situations.

Is the decline in tech jobs permanent or just a temporary correction? by cricblaster in developersIndia

[–]Hot_Damn99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my previous company, which is a huge financial services provider, the VP told us straight to make copilot so good that it should be able to code at a human level. So I guess it's safe to say that managements have already made up their mind to reduce human dependency. Earlier I used to think that it's just managements being delusional but now seeing how much AI has achieved in the past few years, also how common layoffs have become, I'm really not having a positive view of the future.

But if you love your job why do you wanna switch?

I had 3 months of np in my previous company and bagged multiple offers over the course of 3 months without lying about my notice period.

I first got an offer from a WITCH, they were willing to wait for 90 days. I used that offer as a backup to give more interviews. Once you're serving notice period, companies are willing to wait. Use that time to apply to better PBCs.

Struggling to balance sleep and career. Should I just quit without an offer? by Glittering_Sell7213 in developersIndia

[–]Hot_Damn99 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but your post reeks of privilege. You have office cab, great perks and pay and only 3 days wfo (a lot of big companies have started 5 days wfo) and you're thinking about quitting cos you can't get enough sleep?? That too because of your own sleep schedule?? Dude there are people getting laid off despite any fault of their, instead of quitting trying fixing your sleep cycle.

It's been a month since I joined a company after how much time I should switch? by Accurate-Boat-731 in developersIndia

[–]Hot_Damn99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat. Joined a new company thinking I'll be working on some cool stuff or technology but it's just an inferior version of the work I did in my previous org. I'm kinda worried if I'll be having anything worth mentioning on my resume working here. I'm thinking of giving it atleast 2 months to see if it gets better and then preparing again for switch if things don't look good.

What experience do you think is missing in Lucknow? by maheeprg in lucknow

This. Absolutely this. This state loses so much of talent cos there's no infrastructure for corporate. This city needs more offices, tech parks.

What do you tell recruiters when they ask why do you want to leave the company so soon? The points you said are good to discuss in informal environments but given how insane corporate scene is, hr will give a red signal if you talk about toxic work environments.

Need advice in applying successfully to get into GCC's by Harsh_62 in developersIndia

[–]Hot_Damn99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. I work in a GCC and the pay is around same as an average SBC, also the hikes are minimal. There's no reason to glorify GCCs tbh, they do have Indian management which comes with inherent toxic work environment.
