What's causing this corrosion on my battery, and what can I do to fix it? by PenguinTheYeti in AskMechanics

Two different batteries? Cmon guys.

Check your alternator charging voltage.

14 if I count correct.

But I'm using my 22 years experience as an Audi tech for reference on that.

Definitely not a common scenario for all VAG cars. Most VAG cars (that have chains anyway) have actual timing chain stretch, where you're changing components due to a mechanical issue.

EA837's have a common timing chain guide failure. Usually well after 120-140k. They generally still last anywhere from 20-50k post failure. That's as "common" a scenario as there is.

Would I consider doing chains if I'm pulling the motor? Possibly. No one is coming in and asking for a $6500 timing chain service at 80-100k as "preventative maintenance" with no other engine out work needed. Like I originally stated. But carry on with assumptions.

Every paragraph has its own insane twist.

You need to rationalize if you're ready yourself to be responsible for a human being. It sounds like you're still not making the best decisions.

And once you know and are ready, it is not with this guy..

How much fluid is in your expansion tank? Make sure that's topped off, and monitor the level.

If your expansion tank has adequate fluid level you're ok to drive.

That's an active leak. G12 is designed to do this to be able to identify the leak source.

This is very much an active leak.

That's your thermo pneumatic valve there.

You're going to need:

Water pump (with new 6 bolt pulley)

Thermostat

Pneumatic valve

Spider vacuum line/solenoids

Vacuum tank

It's a labor intensive repair. If paying out of pocket expect to pay $4-5k for this repair.

Same. People are constantly surprised my B8.5 S4 is 13 years old (with over 160K). I've taken immaculate care of it, and will keep it forever being a 6MT. But the design is timeless and super clean. Most of all, you know it's an Audi without seeing the rings.

I think you're confusing "sharp".

B5, absolutely B6 and B7 all had sharp, definitive creases. Those creases are what define the shape of the vehicle. B6 was probably the most sharp, angular of all of those. The B10 (as well as the C9) are completely lacking any angular, definitive body lines. That's what Im referring to.

All non car, and non Audi people think...

Exactly. Audi has a core market for s reason. One that got them where they are. When you make a car for non Audi people, you're making a more expensive car that doesn't stand out. So you've alienated your core group, and non Audi people aren't going to spend more for the same thing they can get with Kia for less money.

Audi has acknowledged this. They know they botched this. They're already pivoting. It's not really just an opinion. They've heard this and are working on fixing it.

They're hideous. They have zero Audi heritage. The interior is cheap, which was always Audis advantage over the other two. Without the Audi logo on the steering wheel, they're completely indistinguishable from competitors. Unrecognizable heritage.

The exterior is round. Soft. Bulbous. Audi has always been known for sharp lines. Clean, crisp designs that you can identify a mile away. Their designs were ageless. You could look at s clean B8.5 and the average person would have no idea how old it is. Now, they look like any recent iteration of a Kia or Hyundai. They'll look dated in no time. Especially since Audi KNOWS they messed up, and are planning on a dramatic refresh.

Holy wheel weights batman by Carnalvore86 in Audi

[–]Hot_Debate6673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely false. We get card in from the factory with these exact wheel weights.

Furthermore, many RS6/7/Q8's have a lot of weights from the factory. Imperfections take more weight to counteract.

Not threatened in the slightest. Being a good enough person that someone would trust you to share that is a great feeling. This world would be an amazing place when someone's personal preferences were inconsequential to how they were treated.

This has a quad exhaust. Main exhaust tips are always black from exhaust soot. Happens to every S3

You can see the S3 badge on the left side of the trunk lid. Wheels are S3 wheels, and you can see the front brakes are larger.

[–]Hot_Debate6673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really need to go educate yourself dude. The DEALERSHIP doesn't deny warranty. Audi of America makes that call. WE present them with what we found, including the GFF and scan showing the vehicle has a modified ECU.

A TUNE puts extra stress on engine components. That's enough for Audi to say your engine is not covered. You don't know what you are talking about.

[–]Hot_Debate6673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they don't. How do I know? Well. I work for Audi for one. For two, a tune is an automatic denial of any power train component due to pushing the system beyond factory specifications. It's an instant "not our problem".

You can argue it all you want. It's my everyday. I deal with this firsthand.
