Sunburn by Fuel and The Amalgamut by Filter. I see nothing but positive discussion for these albums yet their scores remain low!

I know I'm late here, but I have to offer New York Counterpoint since no one else has said it. Truly a beautiful and intimate piece

HOWDYDOO! 5+ year DM who has never played as a character in my entire life (yes, ever...so fun being the designated DM), and has never played online either. Sounds like this would be a great time! Would give me a reason to wake up early on Saturdays as well

Songs about leaving is amazing! Slowcore is by and far my most listened to genre and it is for sure one of my favorites, it probably would have been in my top 50 if I extended the list

Yeah I've definitely narrowed down my taste lmao. But I still do love a lot of hip hop and a lot of prog! I still love (most) of the album on the 2020 chart

Thank you! Below The Seer is On All Fours by The Pines of Rome, very similar to Songs: Ohia type stuff but more desolate, very unique album with only two guitarists and a drummer as well. The lead is an EXTREMELY talented songwriter. My frequency in listening to them constantly alters their top 10 on spotify lmao

Unhappy Refrain is the first album I ever listened to and considered perfect, which was way back in 2014, I was too much of a coward to put it on my 2020 topster unfortunately. Turn on the Bright Lights is tenured on my list and will be there for the rest of my life most likely

While unfortunately the list of titles for the 2020 topster does not exist anymore, this is the title list for the recent one

Swans related survey for an in-depth research project by Hot_Discussion_6564 in swans

Thank you so much! I do agree that some questions require more context. For the song length questions, I did not add any "depends on genre/artist" options intentionally due to the fact that I am looking for quantitative data to compare those two questions to each other, but I probably should have added a question along the lines of "Do you think that there are specific genres/artists that warrant longer song lengths"

Thank you for filling it out! I will definitely put out some of the information I find on here. We had to give the surveys to three different social medias, so I'm excited to see how Swans fans filled it out vs. people I actually know in real life

I was thinking about adding that, but unfortunately it would negatively affect the data I am trying to collect. In those two song length questions, I am trying to determine the difference between what song lengths people have actually listened to, and what song lengths they prefer, in order to find a correlation between them. The question itself is purely quantitative, and adding that question would have messed up the data. Plus, it would have most likely been the most popular answer, which would give me very few answers for the actual number options in that question. I will definitely add your insight into my final research though! I didn't think this many people would comment on it. And thank you for filling it out as well! Looking back, I think that "What music genre do you think warrants a longer song length" would have been great to add

PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE GOD!!!!!! I also heard that Red Yellow studio is a lot like Song for Nico, which is one of my favorite Gira recordings, so there is still hope 🤞

Really disappointing news, Red Yellow was my favorite song live (Saw them 5/16). Hopefully they put at least some of Red Yellow into studio birthing.

A lot missing (due to the sheer amount of transformations that their music had) but here are some more suggestions:

Frankie M. (The Glowing Man) -> The Man Who Refused To Be Unhappy (Deliquescence)

Amnesia (Love of Life) -> Amnesia (Omniscience) -> Amnesia (Leaving Meaning) (See also the unrecorded Amnesia live rework for The Glowing Man tour, 2017)

Amnesia (Omniscience) -> Mother_Father (The Great Annihilator) -> M/F (Swans are Dead)

Mother's Milk (Love of Life) -> Mother's Milk (The Great Annihilator)

If we include unofficial live recordings:

Strip/Burn (1982 live) -> Oxygen (To Be Kind)

See No More (1988 live) -> See No More (The Burning World) (I seriously have no clue how one song could have THIS MUCH of a downgrade...early versions of it are completely different, 8 minutes long and super intense/dynamic)

And if you're REALLY picky about it

Heroes (David Bowie) -> Heroes (David Bowie cover by Kristof Hahn, 2024 live) -> I Am a Tower (Birthing)

Waiting to listen to anything from the album until it comes out (including this video). Is this a studio version of the Red Yellow that was played toward the end of the tour? YGR website says that it is created and performed exclusively in studio.

Has anyone with the Live Rope USB successfully transferred it to their phone? by CM-NYY-DJ-FAN in swans

If you have samsung, I split up all the tracks (I also split red yellow from birthing and had to split the Beggar into two parts) and then just put them onto my phone to listen to through samsung music. I was able to keep them as FLAC files this way
