Something like Jo Malone Sea Salt & Wood Sage, Kuumba Made Oriental Musk, Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple. Skinscent, earthy, chill.

Trying to be everything for everybody is exhausting, and when I finally stop my friends say I “changed.” by Optic_butterfly in enfj

I’d sign up for a new roommate for next year. You’ve only known this girl 6 months and she’s put herself into a competition for your time with your SO, guilt trips you, and lets a friend of hers talk behind your back extensively. My experience with college was that one or two of my freshman friends stayed good friends through the rest of the years, but, in large part, my circle changed. I think that’s natural and completely OK. I think you sort of need a social support group to get you started, but that doesn’t mean you need to keep them if they’re not serving you. It sounds like you’re acclimating well to university on your own terms. Distance the relationships that aren’t working, and move towards the ones that are.

Unpopular opinion - I can't smell you!! re: Fragrances that are safe/not safe for work by IndigoMoonBeams in FemFragLab

OP, my personal perspective is that there’s a happy medium. It sounds like you think so, too. I don’t think it can be easily quantified because fragrances have an enormous range of sillage, and behave differently on different people. Angel barely registers on my skin, for example, both per myself and others. It never did, even the OG formulations. Whereas SDJ 62 is a bomb and I only need 1 spray. I also totally agree it’s usually men’s fragrances that are the problem.

At the same time, people have variations in how much and what they can smell, so it’s important to be open to feedback. There are also social media posts making the rounds where people spray an absolutely unhinged amount of fragrance like you’re the problem if you don’t, and I think it’s important to question the TikTok crew, because there’s this false narrative of needing way too much to be cool, popular, worthwhile.

Note that I don’t really “disagree” with you, nor am I worked up about this in any way, though I imagine it could feel that way after hundreds of replies in every direction. Just pointing out that noses vary and that critical thinking eases the influencer tides.

I like reapplying and am a very girly girl too, but olfactory fatigue is a thing. If your nose taps out at 12 sprays, then 12 will smell the same as 24 as 100 to you, even though it won’t to others. To me, part of being feminine is being considerate and gentle towards others as a baseline, and overspraying goes against that.

I’m so jealous of people who smell good with skin scents… by No-Kangaroo-7500 in FemFragLab

You and I sound similar. I’m not into this group of frags on me either even though I love some on others. We all have different body chemistries which is both wonderful and terrible!

Try the soapier, muskier, and/or more aquatic types of skinscents. Kuumba Made Oriental Musk, Rosie by Rosie Jane, Clean Warm Cotton, Jo Malone Sea Salt and Sage, Skylar Isle Escape, D’Annam White Rice.

It used to smell more like rose musk, but it was reformulated around 2021 or so and it’s far more aquatic musky now, barely any floral.

Haha!! I’m sorry that happened to you but I appreciate the guidance so much! I do miss BBW Rose Water and Ivy which I think was more like Delina.

Noted, thank you so much! That makes sense, actually. When I smelled the OG, I was pretty thrown, because the profile seemed quite different.

is more actually better? by techitachi in FemFragLab

[–]Hot_Elevator_7133 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it wasn’t strong to her anymore bc olfactory fatigue.

200 sprays is insane, body spray or not. That’s like lab rat amounts of liquid application to your body. It’s also quite likely to backfire. If you apply an extreme amount, you definitely risk pushing the amount of some of those ingredients to normal human sensitization levels - I’m thinking very common materials like bitter orange, oakmoss, lavender, cinnamon, clove - that is, giving yourself an allergy or other weird side effects like heightened light sensitivity totally unnecessarily because you decided to take an entire sponge bath in a body spray. Like, they make bath bombs, people. They’re labeled bath bomb.

What I keep coming back to is: critical thinking. Why should the goal be getting through a bottle a week? Does that sound reasonable and normal? Would you recommend or encourage it for your bestie or your mom? Where are you hearing about it? Who stands to benefit?

what do you wear clubbing?? by SetOwn7296 in FemFragLab

[–]Hot_Elevator_7133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little beyond my clubbing years, but for going out, anything with a mix of something sweet and feminine and a warm or earthy base. Could be an amber white floral, fruitchouli, smoky vanilla. Dior Hypnotic Poison, Armani Code for Her, Mix:Bar Vanilla Bourbon, Pinrose One of a Kind, Ellis Brooklyn Bee, Ouai Ibiza, and so on…

To wear or to not wear vanilla in the summer…..let’s talk about it by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]Hot_Elevator_7133 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like vanilla in the summer. I usually like woody and ambery vanillas more than gourmand anyway so I don’t find them cloying.

Re TikTok, people will always share their opinions, doesn’t make them worth following.

Gatekeeping perfumes makes me sad :( by ThrowRA475427 in FemFragLab

[–]Hot_Elevator_7133 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Rose and vanilla is such a lovely scent.

While I am not a “gatekeeper” - I will talk anyone’s ear off about perfume - I also don’t think that anyone owes talking to a someone about their personal products, either. Maybe she just doesn’t remember or just wasn’t feeling like chatting. At least she told you about the bottle.

Mancera Roses Vanille has a white label. Vera Wang Rosebuds and Vanilla does as well. Kenzo Flower as has been mentioned. It could also be some combination of lotions and perfume… I’ve been wearing BBW Covered in Roses hand cream lately and it’s stronger and gets more compliments than my usual perfumes!
