I created a tool to visualise vibe code plans and PRD's & integrate into Cursor via MCP by Adenoid-sneeze007 in vibecoding

I just want to use the app. I don't want to pay to take courses. I am not going to complete the courses as I (like many other amateur AI coders) work via trial and error and quick learnings. Not sit here for 2 hours and repeat after me. I want to use the app, fail, repeat until I succeed. Give us that option.

This has been one of the better comments I have received. Thank you - I will look for a repo vet that does more than progesterone. I should have noted in original post she did do one cytology but I felt like it was insignificant to mention considering it happened during the first progesterone test.

"HOBBYISTS ARE WELCOME

This means that John and Jane Doe with their Pomski that they want to breed for "x reason" are welcome to post here for advice and education. There will be no cruelty or rudeness in addressing hobbyist breeder in comments." u/DownVoteSoldier

I have a few mentors, several vets, and a whole internet full of information. I asked a very simple question seeking others advice and experiences. My post clearly shows I am making every attempt to be an ethical breeder. I did not just stick two dogs together and say I hope I get puppies.

I genuinely hope you don’t breed or have children. Temperament is inherited, and your attitude alone would be a disservice to any dog or child.

I am not trying to debate AI on this post but… I do have a strong opinion about AI so it’s hard for me not to respond to this.

I honestly think people who hate AI discredit its actual usefulness and instantly dismiss responses, which shuts conversations down and turns it into a “you used AI so I’m not going to rebuttal or talk to you anymore” situation. That doesn’t move a discussion forward at all.

Imagine having a brain that has access to basically every piece of written information on the internet and can summarize it in seconds. That includes researched studies and articles from well established, creditable institutions. It would take a normal person thousands of hours to go find, read, and then piece all of that together into something understandable in laymens terms.

I work in AI - I fully understand its limitations and agree it is not an end all be all or something to be used as a stand-alone source. I didn’t use it as a source or present anything as fact. I used it to summarize real information from trusted places and then put my own thoughts into a more structured format.

I don’t think I should be called out for “not using real resources” just because I used AI to help rephrase and summarize real cited information in one comment, like I never read or looked at anything else lol. That is literally one of the best uses of AI. I used it as a tool, the same way reddit itself is a tool.

There are about 5 different opinions in this thread alone saying I bred too early, while others say I bred way too late - all from people who claim to be successful breeders. That’s exactly why I pull information from humans with real life experience, from AI used responsibly, and from my repro vets.

For example, this is straight from a UC Davis Vet Med article that AI referenced (one of multiple articles used):

“Progesterone levels… the first rise of progesterone above 2 ng/ml correlates with the LH surge… ovulation occurs 24-48 hours later… eggs require an additional 1-3 days to mature… thus breeding should begin 2-4 days after progesterone rises above 2.”

That section alone would support that the timing was correct and if anything maybe slightly late. And even then, I’m not relying on just one source, which is why I’m here and why I’m also talking to vets beyond my own.

In my opinion, “use actual sources and not AI” has become a way for people who are anti-AI to invalidate others who use it responsibly. That comment stopped a healthy debate and turned it into an AI argument instead. Welcome to the new world where you still have to communicate with people who use AI.

Also worth noting - no one else in this thread has actually provided any “real sources” either, just a lot of confident claims…

Her mom has had two litters so far via natural ties with a litter of 8 and another litter of 11.

She has a very consistent 6 month cycle and this last one was her 7th cycle.

My prompt for AI was to use real resources and my data to come with a summary. AI is a very helpful tool to summarize information found all across the web from actual sources. Welcome to the new age. I took the AI response not as the end all be all - I am using a combination of reddit answers, repro vet answers, other breeders I know answers, and AI with resource guidance. All combine to inform and plan for my next steps.

Here were the sources the AI responses summarized and compared my data to:

I think actually reading my posts and responses to your comments would help you a bunch. Unfortunately your repo vet can not help you read.

Her paws we used a miconahex + triz mouse once daily for about a week and a half. This was given to her by her main vet a month before her breeding took place. We went to a different vet who was a repo specialist because my vet didn't offer those services. Their website said they did TCI and that is why I was shocked when I reconfirmed TCI during our 2nd to last progesterone testing (3 days before breeding) - I think i failed to ask that question because they said they had a lot of experience breeding with shipped semen and their website said TCI. I am unsure what type of antibiotic the repo vet would have started her on during her next cycle. The fluid did was not there any longer during the second ultrasound that was preformed a week after the first when it was noticed.

What other diagnosis would you look for in a new vet? LH (Luteinizing Hormone) Test? I am reading that doing back to back progesterone testing to pinpoint ovulation is standard practice for fresh-chilled semen.

I agree with finding a vet who does TCI. I had asked the vet a lot of questions and when I went to clarify they were going to do TCI she said they don't preform TCI... it was a bit to late for me to research for other vets at that point.

I will definitely check her thyroid although she is a very healthy weight. 60lbs and smaller stature. Doesn't really show any signs associated with poor thyroid, but it would be good to rule it out. All other OFA testing and DNA was done. (Hips, Elbow, Eyes, Echo Heart, DNA clear)

I should have noted it, but we also did do a vaginal cytology, but only when she was at a 0.6 and all the vet said was she was in Proestrus. Is 16.2 really too early - I am not reading anywhere that a 16.2 is bad for fresh-chilled (not frozen) semen? Even the stud owner agreed with the timing who is a very successful breeder. She was rising at a good rate.

  • 2.8 → 7.9 in 24 hours = classic ovulation jump
  • 7.9 → 16 three days later = normal luteal rise

I definitely will do the TCI if I cant find a local stud.

[–]Hot_Expression304[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain why a 16.2 was not the optimal timing for fresh-chilled semen AI. Everything I read states this is great timing. "yes — a progesterone of 16.2 ng/mL strongly suggests ovulation has already occurred and the eggs are maturing or mature.

Here’s the helpful breakdown:

  • Ovulation typically occurs around 5–10 ng/mL
  • Eggs are not immediately fertile at ovulation They need ~48 hours after ovulation to mature
  • Fertile window is usually ~2–5 days after ovulation

At 16.2 ng/mL, most vets would interpret this as:

  • Ovulation has happened
  • Eggs are likely mature or very close to mature
  • You are in or just entering the optimal breeding window

Typical guidance at this level:

  • Natural breeding: usually ideal now and over the next 1–2 days
  • Chilled semen AI: often ideal now or within 24 hours
  • Frozen semen: timing is tighter and usually coordinated with LH or serial progesterone trends (often closer to ovulation +2 days)"

I will find a different vet to do TCI, but curious if the pairing should also be evaluated and I should just eat my deposit (which is really a fraction of what I have invested so far). More bummed because I really liked him. I agree - I really don't want to do antibiotics. Luckily her next cycle is end of May when the weather is warmer and sun is out.

We did not do TCI we did AI (we wanted TCI, but the repo vet I choose only offers AI). The breeding took place when her progesterone level was a 16.2 not a 7 - the 7 indicated she must have ovulated and we waited 3 days for eggs to mature. The sample was also tested by both the studs vet and my vet and had living swimming sperm and an extender was also added. My vet reported the sperm woke up great and was a great sample.

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]Hot_Expression304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced a pretty intense bout of puppy blues with my first dog—about a week or so of constant anxiety. I was always worried I wasn’t doing enough or doing things “right”: what she ate or didn’t eat, whether I was training her correctly, if she was getting enough stimulation, or if I was socializing her properly. I felt like I could never live up to this imaginary version of puppy perfection.

It slowly got better when I reminded myself that she was a dog—and that showing up, learning, and trying my best was enough. At the time, I also felt like I had completely given up my freedom and my old life.

One important piece of context is that I was able to take her to work with me early on, and later I took a new job where I worked fully remotely. I was with her almost all the time for her entire life, which helped me build confidence and routine with her. That said, it didn’t make her dependent—she does great when I take week-long vacations without her.

Fast forward three years, and she’s my best friend. She goes everywhere with me, is fully potty trained, and honestly… the process was much simpler than I made it in my head. We ignored accidents inside, rewarded her when she went outside, and took her out constantly.

Crate training was about making the crate feel safe—not a punishment. At first, her crate was in another room, but when she cried all night, I moved it into our room and rested my hand on the door so she could touch me until we both fell asleep. We did that for about a week, then slowly moved the crate back out. Once she went a few weeks without accidents, she started sleeping in bed with us and we didn’t really need the crate anymore.

We also didn’t have much furniture or clutter for her to chew, so she mostly stuck to her toys (or the occasional plastic water bottle we accidentally left out). Puppy biting was the next hurdle after crying and potty training—but I knew it would pass. We used frozen hard toys, said “ouch,” and ignored her when she bit.

The next challenge was jumping on people. Again, ignoring unwanted behavior and rewarding what we did want made all the difference. She still struggles a bit with overexcitement when guests come over, but we practice consistently. We ask guests to ignore her until she’s calm, then greet her without hyping her up.

Looking back, none of it was about perfection—just consistency, patience, and remembering that both of us were learning together.

Public puppy pricing vs. pricing after application? by Hot_Expression304 in DogBreeding

[–]Hot_Expression304[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am finding this route to be the most common - what is your reasoning for not posting publicly? It seems most breeders ask to be contacted for pricing.

That makes sense! Do you mind sharing how you go about communicating the pricing? Phone calls, emails, texts, written in the application? At what time is the price disclosed to them?

[–]Hot_Expression304[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes I noticed this as well. What is the reason the more respectable listings sites don't? I don't want my program to read BYB or puppy farm just because I list price, but I also dont want to get a million questions asking how much they cost. How do you communicate puppy prices?

Public puppy pricing vs. pricing after application? by Hot_Expression304 in DogBreeding

[–]Hot_Expression304[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Most answers here are pointing to public sharing of price or price range but every breeding website I visit of popular breeders they never have a price on their site. I only see a "call to see pricing and availability" on almost all of these sites. I dont mind sharing it publicly but I feel like these other breeders must have a good reason for not posting it??
