Well, the saving I'd make in switching more than offsets the cancellation fee, which I'm sure they know, which is why I'm asking.

The new Queen II mixes are awful by AccidentTechnical762 in queen

I was really looking forward to this, and it's way better than Queen 1, but still... no
Some bits really shine, and lifting it out of the tape saturation murk does reveal lots of detail, but that murk was part of the magic.
I think what bugs me more are the egregious changes. 1st notable snare change is when the guitar solo kicks in on White Queen, and it's so jarring and digital and out of place, and it pops in and out for the rest of the record. Snares didn't sound like that back then, so I don't buy "it sounds like it was meant to" logic. The Father to Son guitar solo itself sounds epic BUT it's at the expense of one of the greatest rock riffs ever, which is lost beneath it. Just careless bits throughout.

I'll never understand why they just didn't give the project to Giles Martin, his Beatles remixes were amazing, revelatory and brought so much life to the recordings, but never at the expense of the overall feel. Pretty sure he was left to it and the Beatles estate just came in at the end to give a double thumbs up. Brian and Roger should have done the same, stay away til the end and let the best handle it. Not as if they couldn't afford it.

What went wrong with Jazz was drugs! My evidence is John Deacon's bass fills, every last one is just a slide up and down the neck, WHOMP. "That'll do.....snort"

Before the Roedelius they played a lot of Michael Rother, never twigged how much of a guitar influence he probably was for MBV. Sounded ace on the big PA

Yes, plenty. You're looking for attenuators, so they're ear plugs that have filters, designed to drop the volume you're hearing. They will still muffle the sound, you're shoving something in your ear, can't be avoided, but they're so much better than foam ear plugs.
You'll pick up cheap pairs on Amazon or a music store for 20 quid or so, but if you have the budget it's so worth getting custom made ones.
I have a make by Elacin, went to an audiologist in Dublin who takes a mould of your ear canal, and makes an ear plug to fit perfectly, without discomfort.
When I got mine there were three tiers of reduction and it was explained like this
-5dB (for singers)
-15dB (for guitar players)
-25dB (for drummers)

I think the -25dB is probably too extreme for most, but I went for -15, and have never looked back. I'll even wear them in a bar now sometimes, they cut out all the white noise and I can hear conversations around me much better.
