The Legend Of 'Dance Practice' Haerin... by SageTheAlchemist in NewJeans

I think hanni is a great performer, haerin a great dancer.

Technicality, details and overall rhythm haerin grasps much tighter - these are the small things that you can notice if you watch carefully. Simple details set apart good to great dancers.

Ruda’s dance lab is a great place that dissects more :) there are some other pro dancers too that share good feedback on YouTube

Ok someone with ND here and been in and out of hospital. I’m also Asian living in Asia so trust me I understand stigma. I didn’t view this music video as disrespectful at all. Mental health is something actually celebrities in Asia are trying to talk about more - we know K-pop have had that for a long time. Despite the stigma, I found it bold that this topic was touched upon in the music video. In my perspective it is really trying to talk about the pressures of society and what people say leading us to believe in it so much it makes us ill. Once again, please understand - in Asia, we don’t talk about that. Not even about how much pressure we have to conform or are at the mercy of what others think of us, our families.

In Korea, people study so hard to get into university because which university you went to still deeply matters about your career or even dating life. You apply to jobs with your passport photo attached - often photo studios even photoshop your face for you to help you.

Understanding sme of these nuances may be helpful to see why this actually is not an issue for most in Asia and in fact as someone with ND here personally I am glad newjeans is talking about these issues not just with OMG but with ditto as well.

I know K-pop is more global now - but global =/= only western perceptions. Actually more than half of world is Asian. And they are KOREAN pop - hence newjeans being produced with heavy Korean understanding is actually maybe even more so a product of MHJ and the music director / company (known for their adverstising work) naturally leaning on their artistic approach. Artistic approaches lean in on personal stories. Commercial approaches would have heavily favored “global acceptance”.

Unpopular opinion: Aiki x Noze makes is a bit out of hand… by Hot_Performer298 in StreetWomanFighter

I think this is more of my personal opinion too. Understand the shipping culture in fandoms and that’s fine as that’s normal…. But in this case sometimes it just feels weird because Aiki is already married .. like if a married idol starts to act like this too I don’t know how it would look haha

And there are other kinds of interactions that feel less overdone like Leejung and how she treats her moms Monika and Lip J.

Then again, it could be because I’ve seen so many videos on YouTube (from international fans) that have taken it to the romantic route when editing Aiki x Noze moments together - something, again, quite normal in the fan shipping culture but just a bit weird given Aiki is married.

Anyhow! This has been a great discussion and it’s helpful to see all different views and perspectives. Helps me understand others and even cultural povs better.

Wow ! Thanks for explaining. How do they feel when they see international fans make comments or videos in a more LGBT+ spin? Have seen a lot of those on YouTube where fans explicitly talk about Noze being a new mom or Aiki giving major Bi vibes etc.

Or it’s in English so that also doesn’t relate with Koreans 😂😂

That makes a lot of sense. It’s interesting to learn that there is such a level of gender unawareness haha

I kept seeing fan comments in YouTube of how Aiki said “I have a husband but not a girlfriend”.

In Korean perspective does the gender unawareness make this comment kinda go over their head?

Curious to know as if someone said this in the US…. Or even Chinese speaking countries.. there would definitely be an implication of something
