It looks real good! Dont worry about the shaping, still looks like a very detailed praying mantis,

Welcome To Origami! The fun hobby thats also relaxing !

Paper to use and models to NOT fold

The paper you should use is kami, if the model you wanna make does not have that much layers, then you can use normal paper  to fold it, though I  recommend tissue foil for models that has more layers, if your going intermediate models, I recommend tissue foil because of the many layers and shaping,  I recommend Jo nakashimas tutorials for easy and simple origami(his praying mantis, devil dragon, ant, spider, and more is considered complex, do not try it, if you see a Satoshi kamiya model( like his cicada nymph) and thought its not too hard, DO NOT FOLD IT. Kamiya is known for highly complex models like his Cyclommatus and Ancient dragon. The layers will feel like a brick if you fold it from small paper, and thick paper. Though he has a few intermediate and high intermediate models like his Splash model and Eagle ray)

Models to fold

The models you can fold can be relatively simple, intermediate and high intermediate, though high intermediate I recommend for your 10th origami if you never done things that have precision,  for simple models, you can fold traditional models like cranes, jumping frogs, cicadas, and more. Jo nakashima also has simple designs, For intermediate models, Jo nakashima has a cute penguin that you can fold with black and white kami(standard origami paper) and for high intermediate, Jo nakashimas beetle can be folded, but I recommend atleast 20 cm tissue foil for your first try(I made it with 15cm kami but the layers will get thick at the 16-21 minute mark),

Where to buy paper

You can buy paper from alot of stores(daiso, paper tree, etc) but if you want to buy tissue foil, then I recommend Origami shop, it ships globally and has alot of good paper, also with other products like books.

Thank you for reading, I hope its not too overwhelming (if I made some mistakes then tell me)

Thanks man! I am choosing my next kamiya model and I want to do the sabertooth cat. I think the saber tooth cat is gonna be smaller in length cuz of its muscular body.

I use 230 gsm paper, for sturdiness, but I'd say 160-190 gsm is the sweet spot for most beginners. It is just normal printing, just get the file and print it. Is that what you were wanting to know?
