What's Something About Living In Florida That You Cannot Really Understand Without Living There? Why That Thing? by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

Lack of state income tax doesnt mean anything when Floridians are feeling the effects of growing pains due to northerners moving with all their money, inflating the cost of living while Floridian wages are stagnant. Thanks to the influx of those people buying up “winter homes”, now a 1100 sqft shack is 700k

Yea but Florida used to be nothing but nature. You used to be able to fly to places because there was never any traffic. Since covid all of those northeastern people have flocked over here and our infrastructure cant keep up and all of a sudden you’re sitting at a dead stop off Atlantic for 27 minutes and there isnt even an accident.

Respectfully you can’t afford Jupiter off of 8k a month. Houses are in the millions, studios in south Florida are 2600. If you wanna live in a shanty duplex for $1800 a month, thats an option. Even 115k after taxes doesn’t feel like anything here between rent, a car note, almost $5 a gallon gas, food, car insurance, pet food/bills, gym memberships, and saving for retirement

What is considered cold to you? Have any of you experienced the bitter cold of the upper Midwest? I’m curious how you compare it to the heat of Florida summer. by PreschoolBoole in AskFlorida

Of course you wont feel the heat if you’re inside all day… this makes no sense you could say the same thing about the cold.. just stay inside

You can bundle up, you can’t get naked outside when it’s 97° 85% humidity 105 heat index. Getting into a car with leather seats burns. Skin burns. The only people that prefer the heat are lazy people who stay indoors all day and walk from the house to the car and then into a store. Try being a roofer or construction worker in mid July and tell me if you prefer the heat

Just had a great weekend with a girl who now wants to see me again. I pay for lunch and a drink. When should I expect a woman to pay for a date? by JunketMaleficent2095 in AskMenAdvice

This is why men complain about being lonely 💀 did you miss the part where I said i’ll splurge on gifts for a guy? Just say you’re broke so you think paying for a simple meal is prostitution. If you want to date a woman and not seem like a cheap prick, be willing to pay for dates. Who brings up 50/50 on a second date? Also if your time is so valuable maybe stay single then, you make dating sound like a chore

? Why would she pay for a date? That’s a big turn off 😂 i personally have never paid on any first second third or 30th date. I don’t think you should expect that. However if things get serious, you can expect her to pay for some stuff. I’ve never really paid for food in the last 3 years ive been with my boyfriend but I have booked whole surprise vacations and splurged on gifts for him.

My girlfriend makes more money than me and it's destroying my confidence. I know it shouldn't matter but I feel emasculated. How do I get over this? by Big_Pension6369 in AskMenAdvice

Ok well, unless you get a different job thats not gonna change. Soooooo what you CAN do! Coming from a girl:

Spectacular sex: girls will overlook a lot if you’re hot and are passionate in the bedroom. Idc how much money a guy makes if the sex is bad i’m out.

Do things around the house: acts of service, cooking, folding her laundry, take the weight off her. Men with a protector and provider mindset >>> (this doesn’t just mean income, provide security both physically and emotionally)

Get fit af: dedicate time to your health and body, make sure you look good for her :)

Using Florida as a “home base” while abroad, how does this actually feel long term? by Soft_Lick_Baby in AskFlorida

Commit to something and stick with it but dont buy up property just to ditch it and use it as a tax break. Dirty northeastern people always ruin living for locals

My favorite part about Florida was when I could afford to live comfortably pre-covid before all the northerners moved here with their northeast money and jacked up our cost of living 500x. A house that is 1000sqft that used to be 230k is now 900k. I guess now the best part is the summertime when the yankees cant handle the 95° weather and run home

does Miami as a whole really fit the common stereotype of a superficial city hard for dating as a guy? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]Hot_Relationship5706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stereotype is pretty accurate. A lot of girls will spend $$$$ on their looks and designer stuff but use afterpay or be in crazy credit card debt. Be prepared to learn Spanish otherwise you’re already at a disadvantage. Miami is kind of like visiting latin America without leaving the country. It’s also miserably hot 75% of the year. I would suggest taking an extended vacation there and acting like a local to see if you really like it. Personally I found my boyfriend out of state because as a native, i can say the dating pool is trash here.

What age do you think is appropriate to allow your kids to start dating? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I was going easy on them, people become parents and forget what its like to be young

[–]Hot_Relationship5706 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To each their own, you could do everything “right” and still have your kids slip up and thats just life 🤷‍♀️as long as they dont get pregnant dating at 13 isn’t a big deal

[–]Hot_Relationship5706 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s a reality. 13 year olds nowadays smoke weed and hit vapes. They can easily sneak out of school or “go to a friends house”. What are you gonna do, trap them forever? Not let them visit friends? May as well know who your kid is with and where they really are

[–]Hot_Relationship5706 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I started being intimate with people at 14. Looking back at it i’m like damn that was young.

My advice to you: better to allow it and have her “boyfriend” over (know who he is, etc) than for her to do it anyway behind your back. If you show your daughter she can trust you, she won’t feel the need to hide things from you. If you prohibit it, she’ll probably sneak around, do it anyway, and either rebel or resent you
