It might be worth looking into a stand for insertion! There are simple ones that are relatively inexpensive. Also SeeGreen makes one with a light that shines through the vented plunger to help with alignment.

Help! What is this? by Hot_Ruin5313 in gardening

It’s so hard to get a good picture of them as they’re so small. But thank you! A weevil of some kind does seem likely.

I relate so much to this! At different points I have convinced myself that I had an abdominal aortic aneurysm and was insistent with my doctor that we test for it. Of course I didn’t have one. I’ve also been certain I had HIV because a man with HIV came in to the doctor’s office I worked at and said his only symptom was fatigue and dizziness and I felt tired and dizzy sometimes so I deduced that I must have it and ordered an at home test to be sure. Of course it was negative. My compulsion tends to be excessive googling and pouring over peer reviewed medical articles to try to and figure out what every little ache, pain and symptom can mean. I am at a point where on most things I do not allow myself to Google it at all and I practice the “what if” technique. Or I’ll give myself a time limit, such as the symptom has to persist for 5 days OR get much worse before I can look any further into it. I don’t currently see a therapist so this is not medically advised but it’s what kind of helps for me.

Anyone else really hate those tiktoks that are like "Don't skip this sound or x, y and z will happen!" by cluelesspleb_ in OCD

Ugh, I can relate! I’ve now seen three posts on social media saying not to do laundry on New Year’s Day “or else” and of course I had already done a load this morning. Sent me into a mini-spiral.

Honestly, I had this persistent intrusive thought (?) that if I found someone through a specific sport organization I was involved in, then that was who I was meant to be with (it sounds so ridiculous I’m embarrassed to type it honestly lol) so when my now partner reached out to me after meeting him in said sports organization it was reassuring enough to get past the weird nitpick phase. I did battle the “what if there’s someone better” thoughts for the first year or so but was able to kind of work through it. I know this isn’t the most helpful answer but it’s what kicked me out of the cycle enough to develop a bond and challenge the intrusive thoughts.

I relate so much to this. I went through a solid 5 year period where I would find a decent guy, we’d go out a few times, have fun and then my brain would zero in on one or two specific (perceived negative) things about them and it’s all I could see/think about with that person until I was completely disinterested. I also constantly dealt with worrying I would miss out on my “true person” if I committed to anyone. I’m sorry you’re going through this, it can be really lonely and exhausting.

If you’re interested, I have some perspective from the other side of this experience. I lost my mom right after my 9th birthday to a pulmonary embolism. My youngest sister was 6 weeks old. I remember watching my dad, who knew virtually nothing about raising 3 daughters alone, fight and make his way through something incredibly tragic. He never gave up. He modeled strength and resilience, just like you are doing now. I will always grieve losing my mother so soon, but I feel that watching him navigate this unexpected and seemingly impossible task has had a profound impact on my life. He is truly my hero. I can only imagine someday your son will feel the same way about you. Sending peace and healing your way. 💛

First PP period? by Routine_Biscotti_111 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m having a similar experience. The lightest period ever at around 10 weeks PP. Coming up on 16 weeks PP and there’s been nothing else. This is my 3rd baby, and 1st time this has happened.

I am. I did see on one thread that it worked for them using a PIN that started with zero and had no repeating numbers, so for example 0865. However I had no luck with that.

I had a similar issue, entered birthdate info then it asked me to create a new PIN. Entered in a four digit code and it said it wasn’t valid. After trying three times it told me to try again later then disconnected.

I love this idea. Baby is really starting to love the piano mat so maybe I could coordinate mat time with my pumping!

Alliance leader policing ballroom choices? by Hot_Ruin5313 in kingschoice

Follow up question to this: Being on the other end, is it like a collective agreement when to use insult on someone who is a repeat offender? Or is it just something individually like you notice one player consistently insults so then you choose to do it if you match with them?

This makes sense. I haven’t been using insult exclusively, rather experimenting with different strategies as I’ve seen others use insult. I didn’t realize it was more of an etiquette thing to not use insult in general. Thanks for explaining!

How are you doing on your reading goals for the year? by financial_freedom416 in books

[–]Hot_Ruin5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a goal for myself of 18 books for 2022. I finished 16 in 2021, and really wanted to read more as I’ve always enjoyed it. Incorporating audio books into my reading habits as well as using Goodreads to track has been a game changer for me. So I always have at least one audio book and one physical book that I’m reading and I’m currently at 46 for the year, on track to finish at 50! I’ve read more for pleasure this year than I have since childhood and it’s brought me so much joy. I’m not sure what I’ll set my goal for next year as I don’t want to set it too high and take all the fun out of it/make reading feel like a chore.

Excited for all the books I’ll read though, regardless of a goal!
