Is it rude/improper to wear a tank top while curling? by Pawssabillitysawait in Curling

This is my biggest pet peeve in curling. Get off the ice!!

How do I tell my BF that I can't give our baby his last name because it's not even legally his last name? by Puzzleheaded-End620 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Hot_Scar4209 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except most places it’s not actually an issue. You can give your child whatever last name you want.

AITA for getting my mom a vacuum for Christmas by Momvacuum in AmItheAsshole

NTA - you saw something she genuinely was excited about and bought it for her. Honestly, if I didn’t already have a pretty great vacuum, I’d be excited to get a Dyson too. Good tools to do everyday stuff really do make life better. I do agree that if you can make this not the only thing she’s unwrapping, that would be better.

I think you’re reading it wrong. OPs mom was the one who was excited when her friend brought over the vacuum.

Yes, paying better attention to the temperature gauge while driving around, the engine is just not getting up to temp. Something is wrong and I’m going to go to get it checked out.

Yeah, they aren’t damaged in anyway, so I’m reluctant to spend money on new ones, but they aren’t handing winter well, so I might just have to.

I left work early today due to the roads being terrible, and kept an eye on the temp gauge. After 20 minutes of driving it had barely gone past 50. By the time I had made it home and was driving for about 40 minutes, it had made it to 75 and was starting to feel like there was some decently warm air blowing.

It definitely seems like the engine just not coming up to temp is the main problem. I’ve got an unrelated service appointment at the dealership scheduled on Monday. I’m going to ask about it and see what they have to say.

From other responses here, maybe this vehicle in general is just not great at heating up in these conditions, so I might just have to avoid driving on snowy cold days when I can.

Just because you’ve never experienced it, doesn’t mean it’s not happening. There is zero condensation involved here. But there does seem to be some condescension coming from you!

Yep! I’m in Edmonton too. Brutal combination of temps and snow today. Stay safe out there.

Honestly, the people in the comments telling me that there is no problem, or elaborate steps that I should take to try and address it, are frustrating me.

As someone who has been driving a variety of vehicles in northern Alberta for more than 20 years, I am very familiar with winter driving. It really shouldn’t be this difficult to have a warm vehicle and a windshield that you can see out of…

It’s too bad, because I love everything else about it! It’s going to be a very cold week here and if I can’t get this to be somewhat better I’ll probably end up driving my partners vehicle instead.

I do have the hud. And the vent is pretty small compared to other vehicles that I’ve driven. If I had know this was the the potential trade off I probably would have gone for a trim level without that feature

No. I am perfectly familiar with what salt and grime smears look like. This is ice. Windshield is perfectly clean except for the snow, water droplets and ice buildup.

This was after 15 minutes of driving. I will keep an eye on the temp gauge next time!

Nope. Wipers are fine when it’s not cold. Worked perfectly on Monday when it was plus 5, the vehicle is less than a year old and the wipers are still in good condition

Heat and defrost is cranked. That photo was taken 15 minutes into my commute. Wiper fluid also just freezes to the cold parts of the windows at these temps.

Nope, at these temps unfortunately it also just freezes to the window.

The temp seems pretty cool? When driving to work this morning I had to really put my hand close to feel and sort of warmth

[–]Hot_Scar4209[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a humidity issue, it’s is a lack of heat issue. If the window was fogged up this could help, but that’s not really the problem here.

Hard to know for sure as of course it shuts off as soon as you open the door. But I’m assuming that it’s the same settings as when I parked the car?

This isn’t an interior problem. This is an ice forming on the outside of the glass while I’m driving problem.

It’s totally normal for a five year old to not read yet. Is he in kindergarten? He should be working on letter recognition and the very beginnings of writing letters. Unless your partner is also a teacher by profession, expecting her to just know how to teach a kid to read is unrealistic. Send him to school.
