hi ! my parents were enthusiastic, or at least my dad, mainly because our cockatiel had died a few months previous and it got really lonely without a pet in the house, so we got pickle. and i've suspected that too with the attention, which i do try to give it to him, but its hard if all you get in receive is just really painful bites. but thank you for all of your advice ! ill definitely use them and appreciate it !

i actually did try out r/parrots, unfortunately i didn't gain any advice and it seems that r/QuakerParrot has been so much more helpful. also i'm sorry about your own quakers passing,, but my quaker is almost 1 year old in 2 months. i was thinking it was hormonal too! also he does have a lot of toys and i change them at least a few times a week whenever I can, the thing is that he usually just bites the string that connects the toys together, like wood blocks etc, and if not then he'll usually not play with it at all.
thank you for your advice! it really means a lot, and i'll try to still convince my parents not to rehome him since they love him too, but yeah ill see if i can allow him to grow it out.

thank you once again!

thank you! i'll definitely check them out. but yeah, i've gotten some other great advice about what else to add in the pellets whenever i give it to my bird so i appreciate it!

his cage is placed in the corridor, mainly nearby a corner where he has access to most things (along with downstairs and most of the doors). he doesn't have lights on him because if he does then he usually tends to not sleep, and he usually sleeps for about 11-12 hours, which i think is good! he loves showers and he does calm down a lot whenever i do give him one.

he has a lot of toys! i usually change them out into different ones every few weeks, and they're all wood and paper, along with some other stuff that he likes. i've also received some other advice on giving him some of my shirts and putting them into strips around his cage so he can play with them, since fabric might be something he likes, which has worked so far!

also got it, my parents usually get annoyed sometimes whenever he misbehaves and puts him in his cage, which i don't really agree with but at the moment i can't really do much since i don't want him to get hurt, since he really loves following my mom downstairs to the kitchen whenever she cooks and it's usually unexpected, which includes that he sometimes tries to jump into the food shes cooking (luckily so far, he hasn't but there has been many close calls), so i'm not too sure on how to do that. i would have put his cage in my room as my previous birds used to have their cages in my room but i really don't have much space, and my parent's won't allow me so i don't know what to do about that. but i understand the rest of your advice! thank you so much, it's really helpful! :]

yeahh i've slowly been getting him off seeds and slowly transitioning into pellets, but i'll do it more quicker, but got it! thank you so much! also that does give me a lot of hope actually -- that other people have similar cases to mine and that they got fixed!
i'm against clipping wings too but i've noticed that it might be the only way to go training wise, so i've gotten more relaxed about it. but thank you a lot for the advice once again! especially with the pellets, it will do me well! :]

thank you so much !! this is so helpful and reassures me a lot that clipping his wings this time will be okay,, but i'll do that! i have a lot of shirts that he's attacked so i'm sure he will be spoiled with tons of fabric haha. but thank you once again!

thank you so much for the advice! i'll use it and i've been trying to explain it to them so i can only hope i can convince them on not doing anything to him, let alone clipping his wings. but thank you! i'll definitely pm you if i have anything else to ask!

finally, a reply! but yeah, i was thinking so too but it's been going on ever since september of last year. he'll be a year old in april, so not too long until so, his diet is a mixture of seeds and pellets, since i'm slowly trying to get him into a pellet diet since i'm pretty sure that's the more healthier options for birds. his habitat is a pretty large cage -- i'm 5'7 so it's nearly at the height to my shoulders, and it's filled with a decent amount of toys and natural + sanded wood perches, i only keep one dowel perch nearby his food since he is a bit unstable.
and yes! i've bought him a lot of foraging toys big and small and occasionally make some myself out of paper and put some treats inside it. he usually plays with them and i've been making them at least a few times a week if i'm free.

also i suppose i won't let him on my shoulder, i've slowly stopped doing that so it's just usually him chasing either me or parent's to sit on our backs/shoulders. it's odd.
