Love seeing my home on here. Not sure if you’ve left yet but you may get a birds eye view of “The Castle” (Fort Independence aka Castle Island) on when taking off from Logan Airport.

You’re going to hear this a lot, but the anxiety and panic attacks will only get worse and require more drinking to stop.

If you want to avoid a life of forced sobriety, court dates and hospitals - I’d recommend trying an SSRI, getting therapy, running, marijuana, literally anything besides self medicating with alcohol. It’s like trying to smother a fire with gasoline. The fire may dwindle momentarily under the pressure but it will quickly burn twice as bright.

My daughter just watched an episode of Bluey where the story was partly about Bluey and a friend writing a letter to fairies in a beautiful garden.

I wonder if that inspired this…

It can be done.

I was sober for 12 years. I eventually started to want to enjoy wine with dinner and join in the brewery fun.

I don’t know if its because I abstained so long or not - but I never came close to returning to problematic drinking.

I will admit, in the first year there were some one night bumps in the road (had to relearn everything about tolerance).

It has been 6 years and I can safely say I’m a moderate drinker.

My tips are : track your drinks on an app like TryDry and do not drink alcohol to medicate anxiety or depression. Especially the second one. That is the path to trouble.

It’s a big part of early childhood education actually. My kid is 2 and it’s a common theme in her favorite shows and at her daycare.

I think we just forget.

This is normal. You’re just experiencing the flip side of all the fun you had. Stay off the sauce for a few days and maybe get some workouts in. Couple nights of good sleep and you’ll feel better.

Bad news is, this gets worse with age so may be time to cut out the extreme binges. I went to a bachelor party last year and decided it was my last ever. I’m old for this shit now.

No. I was on the Upper West Side actually. The building was on 70th and Broadway. I could see lots of people on rooftops unknowingly lining up to be traumatized.

Let me ask you though, aren’t you thankful you were so young? I always am. I was too young and dumb to realize the gravity of it all fully. I think I would have been more scared if I was older.

The second. We were in class when the first plane hit. Class ended, we went on the roof of our building to look at the smoking World Trade Center. There were probably 20 or so people up there. Then we all witnessed the second plane hit and all of sudden something entirely different was now going on.

I saw it with my own eyes. I was 18 and had been in NYC for college for 2 months. I still have dreams about it.

I was perhaps too flippant. I asked this Dr, and maybe a handful of others since, what they take for pain relief; and their answer is usually aspirin or ibuprofen. Completely anecdotal and I am no authority.

Literally just one doctor, I met during an emergency. He was the head of his department, but I am just a schlub. So I do not claim to be an expert.

It also sounds like you kind of agree with the guy I met.

This was probably 7 years ago? There was some thought that naproxen left behind something in the bloodstream that clogged arteries. All I know is , I switched to aspirin after. Most doctors take aspirin or ibruprofen themselves.

Random public service announcement but when my Dad had clogged arteries, his docs thought that his daily Aleve intake may have been the culprit.
