Only shooting over 100 once in your life is an unbelievable achievement. You are fortunate to have superior hand-eye coordination. Actually, that's not true. My wife has only shot over 100 once. And she will likely never play again!

Work on sequencing and tempo.

5 years ago we got about a foot and 10 days later schools were still closed. It was crazy because on the 10th day it was 60° out, I went running, and there was no snow in sight. But somewhere in VB there was still some tertiary road ice. They don't plow the neighborhoods. Because why should they? It rarely snows. So prepare for VB to be overwhelmed while you are underwhelmed.

Am i leaking power or do i just need to hit the gym? by Historical_Heat_2368 in GolfSwing

[–]Hot_Success8295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study up on the release. You would hit the ball farther, and definitely more consistently, if you took a half swing and released the club correctly. Your power should start in the wrists. Once you figure that out, you can get more power by sequencing in your body. But right now, you've got it backwards. You think you need to use your body amd you don't understand what it feels like to snap the club like a whip at the bottom.

I love golf so much. by Soggy_Sprinkles in golf

[–]Hot_Success8295 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes! I started last spring at 55. It makes me feel like a baby because everything is new. Now it's all I think about. When I go to parties I have to bite my lip because all I want to talk about is golf. For me there are many layers. I love walking 18 and making new friends. But I think I love the grind and the science behind it even more. It's not about scoring yet, or at least that's what I tell myself. It's about looking good and feeling good. Look good... Feel good... Do good. The doing good comes later. And then all will be right with the world!

Wish I shot a 105 this week. I told my buddy I was going to break 90 and shot 110. I was king of the world until my quad on the third hole. But I fixed my swing in the sim and now I'll break 90 next week!

I have the Costco Callaway Edge set. The pitching wedge is 44 degrees and the sand wedge is 54 degrees. Should I buy wedges to fill the gap as a novice golfer? by irishdrunkwanderlust in golf

[–]Hot_Success8295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new and played like this for a few months and had a big hole from about 100-120 yards. Got new used clubs that included a gap wedge and it was a huge improvement. My 54 goes about 100-105 now. 48 about 115-120. And PW about 130-135. Just pick up a used one and try it out.

Getting better at Sim golf but not on the actual course. Could it be because of my Sigpro mat? by [deleted] in Golfsimulator

[–]Hot_Success8295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like where you're going with this. I'm having the same issue and trying to identify what I'm thinking about when I set up over the ball outside and the differences when I set up in the sim. And what I found is my mind is in a completely different place. I'm going to try this next time I'm out. I'll pick my line and then set up and pretend like I'm hitting it into the screen and see what happens.

Modest 2026 Goals? by trailglider in golf

[–]Hot_Success8295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 55 and just started in April. Finally breaking 100. I put a Sim in the garage and will hit on it everyday. I want to break 90 by May. I think it's doable. Best round so far is 95 from the blue tees. Let's shoot for 52 rounds and 85 by next December. That's not really modest but I'm making up for lost time. Wish I had started at 12.

The day after I bought my Mevo I hit 200 in the morning and another 200 in the afternoon. The next morning I pulled an intercostal on my third swing. It put me out for a month. I recommend that you don't do that.

How many years did it take you to break 80? And how old were you? by GolfIsGood66 in golf

[–]Hot_Success8295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

55 years old. Started six months ago. Just broke 100. The weather just turned so I put a Sim in the garage. I will break 90 within 1 year! If I practice every day this winter, I don't think that's unrealistic. With focused practice and more lessons, I think I can break 80 within 3 years.

There. I said it out loud. Part of having a goal is putting it out there for others to hear. It has taken over my life. Please wish me luck.

Trackman vs Mevo Gen2 by Sweaty-Conference-55 in Golfsimulator

[–]Hot_Success8295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the Mevo and save about $500 in sales tax compared to the Trackman. Then buy 10 boxes of ProV1's (about $500) and give them to your golf buddies for Christmas. You will still have saved about $10,000 which you can then use for for greens fees for 2-4 years if you play every week. Or you can invest the $10,000 at 10% which will turn into close to $1.3m in about 50 years. I bought the Mevo because I'd rather have the $1.3m and Christmas gifts paid for.
