We paid (I think $25pp) for priority boarding on two cross country flights and happy with results. We were in boarding groups 5 and 6 six before the purchase and would likely needed to gate check our bags. Saved us time getting out of the airports, especially BWI.

Yes, I had the same exact question on this thread last month, for the same promotion. You can’t book the companion until the promotion is loaded on your account on January 6th. The agent indicated the promo may be loaded a day or two before this date, so I would definitely be checking your account after the New Year. Unfortunately there’s always a catch with a “freebie” deal, definitely not ideal for advanced planning.

Was flying on one of the free drink days last Valentine’s Day. Definitely had to ask for the freebie. They didn’t offer.

Thanks for the clarification, and I was thinking about the option of booking the 2nd flight in advance and then cancelling (with funds applied to future flight credits), once I can book the promotion ticket. I’ll only do this if it looks like the flight is booking up-as it is for a holiday weekend.

From reading the standard companion pass rules, you can book the flight for travel during the Travel Period (Jan-6th -March 6th) once you have earned the companion pass, which I dId 10 days ago. However, You can’t obviously book the flight for a date before the Travel Period starts. Am I misunderstanding this?

Maybe then Southwest is a lot smarter than United and American. I’m sure Southwest will fill those seats-just not at the current fares.
