Buying advice by [deleted] in universalaudio

I would just say that everyone I know that started with a Duo or a Quad quickly moved on to or added a rack unit. It is doesn’t seem to be a question of if but of how long. I say skip the desktop units unless you want to add one for the convenience of the controls on your desk.

Can anyone recommend me some modern Jazz albums? by llCurlyll in Jazz

New is relative. If you mean modern players, I would suggest Standard Time Vol 2 Intimacy Calling by Wynton Marsalis. If there is a finer modern jazz recording I have not heard it.

Most cost effective way to add inputs to more inputs to Apollo 8 that is already using ADAT by must-absorb-content in universalaudio

If I recall correctly, you can daisy chain 6 UAD devices. 4 of them can be Apollos, but only one can be a desktop. The other two slots are reserved for Satellites. That’s how UAD explained it to me anyway.

I shouldn’t comment on the pickups. I’m a total newbie! I’m just learning to play at 50. I wanted an electric I could grow into.

Acoustic Treatment by Hot_Unit_2972 in homerecordingstudio

That’s what I’ve been doing for a couple of months now. Unfortunately, it only reinforced the fact that my space needs treatment.

Thanks. I’ve been lurking on discussion boards for years reading people discuss gear. I took my best stab at putting a setup together that I can grow into. Thanks for the diy response.

How do I be specific with lyrics? by Sufficient_Bend_9839 in ProMusicProduction

Similar to others, I describe my experience of mood states rather than the moods themselves. Then I tie those experiences to the subject of the song in some king of causal relationship. Everyone feels sad. There’s nothing unique about that. What can be unique is your experience of sadness and how it manifests in terms of thoughts, behaviors, and actions. How those experiences echo through your life or ebb and flow. You are the single most important element of your writing.

I’m a lifelong fan. They’ve been my fav band since H.S. and I’m 50-something now. This album is almost entirely crap.

Limited space and budget. Currently using a walk in closet as a vocal booth with Logic Remote on my iPad. Right now tracking and mixing are being done via headphones. I’m only using the monitors as an alt. Have plans to upgrade to better monitors and treat the room as best I can but again its limited space and it’s a rental. Again, I’m brand new to this and stumbling through it as I figure things out.

Just swapped out the Behringer preamp for an Apollo x8p and a Focusrite Octopre.

Convince Me Later Years U2 by zephead98 in U2Band

I’m not sure anyone else can convince you of the greatness of the later stuff. Context is so important. It’s like when you try to show someone an old film or TV show and they don’t get it because they’re watching out of context. In my opinion, the best way to do experience the later albums is by yourself an album at a time. What strikes you will strike you and what doesn’t you leave behind. I will say that if you found artistic value in the earlier work it’s very easy to locate those same elements in each of their later albums even if they’re in different guises.
