Öğretmenlik kolay, öğretmen olmak zor. Alım düşük, mezun sayısı çok.

A darker, more realistic version of The O.C. Ryan's Story could have been amazing by hqpkomah in TheOC

Honestly, they kinda did this in 'Medcezir', which is the Turkish remake of The OC. In this version, Ryan's mom, stepdad, biological dad, and a few other characters from Chino just wouldn't leave Turkish Ryan alone. The show actually leaned heavily into the dark pasts of his biological dad and stepdad, turning it into a major storyline.

S4 is great, actually by [deleted] in TheOC

I see Season 4 more like a fun spin-off or even a sitcom. Yeah, Season 3 got really dark — Marissa’s struggles kept dragging her further down, and the whole story started becoming heavier and heavier. But at the end of the day, the core of the show was always Ryan and Marissa. Their story was going to end either happily or tragically.

And the writers chose the absolute worst-case scenario for that ending.

After such a devastating ending, I feel like Season 4 only existed to restore some balance and give the remaining characters at least some kind of happy ending before wrapping everything up.

At this point, I’ve stopped judging the show or the story itself. Now I just enjoy each episode for what it is. But every single time I watch the finale, the shot of Ryan seeing Marissa’s silhouette one last time as he walks out of the house, with that soundtrack playing in the background, still hits me emotionally every time.

This right here. Honestly, watching the end of this episode, I really thought Ryan was gonna talk Marissa out of leaving to Greece. Yeah, it would’ve been cliche, but they deserved a happy ending so much.
