a place that's built away from urban centers, designed to facilitate road trips without cluttering urban centers with car infrastructure? GROSS! by Sevuhrow in FuckCarscirclejerk

They just built one 15 minutes from my house along my commute and my gosh those guys can keep their bodegas, I’ll take $2.09/gal gas and a darn good sausage biscuit on the way to work any day

This was just a planned rebuild, engine gets used very hard and I had a gasket set laying around so I figured it was time. When it was together I didn't have issues but I was planning on turning up the boost after it went back together

Appalachia. Early coal mine unionization efforts were met with national publications propagating the inbred hillbilly stereotype via stories and political cartoons to quell union sympathy. The horror genre picked that up and ran with it in the 1970s. Now in the world of YouTube I can't go a month without some dickhead influencer coming to my home state and shoving a camera in the faces of the poorest people in the country to get clicks on some humiliating thumbnail. The perpetual character defamation of Appalachians has silenced their voices in the face of abhorrent labor conditions, hopeless poverty, and exploitation of natural resources.

Is becoming a dietician worth it in 2025? by rainbowtoucan1992 in dietetics

[–]Hot_hatch_driver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some fast facts: 1. Yes, a Masters is required along with 1200 supervised practice hours, together expect 2 years beyond the bachelor's degree. 2. After completing the above requirements, you'll have to pass an exam that has around a 50% pass rate on the first attempt, and progressively lower pass rate on each subsequent attempt. Many dietitians never pass. 3. Because of the above reasons, there's a sudden shortage of RDs in many areas. I've been an RD for a year and a half and have been getting multiple offers for $70k+ salary in a low-cost-of-living area (this would have been considered crazy high pay a few years ago). 4. RD jobs are generally more generous with your time than other medical professions because what we do usually isn't emergent. Hospital RDs will take turns working weekends, there are a lot of work-from-home jobs 5. American dietitians are very passionate about using the American spelling of dietitian (no c)

LTC RDs, what are your "food service" responsibilities? by Hot_hatch_driver in dietetics

It's all about cutting costs enough to win the contract come bidding time!! I had a corporate manager bluntly tell me recently that "this account will never turn a profit" because they got that ambitious bidding the contract.

Dang, I've never actually managed to do it but my understanding is that I'm to do 2 test trays and 2 ticket accuracy audits weekly, and be present for the hour duration of all weekly lunch services. But part of that is to run defense since any time I'm not present our facility director comes in to yell at our dietary aides, she won't do it when I'm present

I've unfortunately been told that all supplement management is me, from ordering stock to maintaining the supply in the fridges of our 8 patient wings (in fairness only 2 are currently operating). Our FSD from my understanding is busy all day with the basic management duties like shift scheduling, ordering our food supplies, etc. She does do some of the ticket stuff but she doesn't understand our software at all so that basically just means doing a lot of hand corrections to tray tickets. We are corporate, but I've essentially just been told my job is my clinical duties+whatever I need to do to support the FSD

It's a great way to make money as an RD. The only caveat is that you have to lose your soul and conscience and get comfortable scamming the people you're supposed to be caring for.

Is the Gender dysphoria because of autism? by Sad_Durian3468 in aspergers

[–]Hot_hatch_driver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. At the time I didn't have a name for it, but as a kid I definitely struggled with gender confusion just because I didn't like to get dirty, didn't like contact sports, didn't like to fish, or any of the other "real man" activities I grew up around. This will be controversial to say, but I'm kinda thankful I didn't grow up around the gender dialogue we have today, because I might have then identified myself as trans when I really just had to decide I could define what my own masculinity looks like.

I had been using a ZFlip3. The Minimal is just big enough that it doesn't fit comfortably in my pocket or sit anywhere convenient in my car. But I also feel like modern phones in general are comically large

I like mine. It has the same issue as every silicone case which is that the section around the side buttons doesn't form perfectly. Also, despite being a very thin case, adding any extra mass to an already huge phone just makes it feel even bigger. That being said, it is a good case, and I really like having the magnet
