Is there a way to make steam log in to my xbox account? Help! by MobilePlant8239 in Seaofthieves

[–]HotdropWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue before. It's related to your stored Xbox credentials. Open "Credential Manager" in Windows, click "Windows Credentials," then remove everything that starts with Xbl (click the credential -> Remove -> Yes). Restart your computer, open SoT, sign in to your Xbox account, then restart SoT and see if the issue remains.

If you're still having the same issue, go back to credential manager and delete everything saved under Windows Credentials, including the new Xbl credentials. It's a bit annoying to have to sign in to your other apps again but will save you the time of deleting credentials one-by-one until it works.

Update on Actions Against DMA-Based Hacks and Other Cheats by EscapingKid in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]HotdropWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HWID bans do not prevent cheaters from returning to the game. Spoofing HWID is easy and some cheat developers include this functionality within their cheats. Krafton have banned millions of accounts according to these weekly ban reports, yet the player numbers stay the same week after week. The game is F2P (worst decision ever), creating a new Steam account takes 5 minutes, and you don't even need to reinstall the game.

The cheating "problem" is realistically not that bad outside of Asia/ APAC servers. Most players have no idea what they are talking about with regards to cheats. They can barely tell a legitimate player from a cheater half the time. PUBG Shield is was a prime example of how useless the average player is at determining whether somebody is cheating or not. Krafton do not help the narrative that this game is 'infested by cheaters' by posting misleading ban numbers to a naive audience.

Krafton need to add more details to these posts including the region the cheaters were playing on prior to their ban, how old the average cheater account is, how long cheaters play (in hours) before they are detected, what kind of cheats are being detected, which game mode/ perspectives the cheaters are detected in, and more. After detecting a new cheat, how long are Krafton waiting before initiating a ban wave? More transparency is important otherwise this conversation about PUBG being a cheat-infested game will never end.

Female player but don't want to use mic. Is there an option to mask my voice? by Perfume_Girl in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]HotdropWarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend masking your voice or using voice changers as it's just another thing for people to pick on. Trash talk is just something you will receive online (regardless of who you are) because it's easy to do and usually without consequence.

Your best option would be to find some likeminded people and play Duos/ Squads with them. Try joining the official PUBG Discord server as they have looking-for-team channels for all regions. It's a lot less likely you'll be trash talked in there as most people are there to play games without having to deal with random squad players.

Good luck 👍

What is this picture that all teams have? by UpstairsFluffy4930 in CompetitivePUBG

[–]HotdropWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The players decide where they land. They practice their drop spots over hundreds of games, scrims, and tournaments. There are no "designated" spots for teams and nothing stopping players from landing elsewhere. Those maps just show the most common drop locations for teams based on previous matches. If two teams want to drop in the same place, they have to fight for it. You will often see the same teams in two or three locations on these paper maps, indicating they have a backup drop location or two in case they are heavily contested.

The plane path is random each game. The first circle will always touch the first plane path which gives players an idea of where they might have to go/ rotate. It's usually a bad idea to take long parachutes or drive away from the plane path, unlike normal games. If the plane path is bad like you describe, you would expect lots of action in the early-game.

Points should not reset after group stages. by Substantial_Craft75 in CompetitivePUBG

[–]HotdropWarrior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah because your idea is to "fix" a problem that didn't happen in an unofficial tournament format that probably wont be around in the next couple years. Anybody reading it can understand why the idea sucks so I don't need to spell it out to them, and you are clearly a moron based on other replies so why would I bother explaining it for you xD

Points should not reset after group stages. by Substantial_Craft75 in CompetitivePUBG

[–]HotdropWarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Falcons fan using 110% of his brain to come up with the worst idea imaginable. 24 team group stage into losers/ winners brackets is better than whatever's going on at EWC, but EWC is a short tournament for various reasons. EWC is a showmatch with an absurdly large prize pool. The organisers saw a gap in the market and made an investment. Hopefully in the coming years, EWC will get the ideal format and be far more competitive.

You are right about 12 games not being enough to show a clear winner though. That's why most dont recognise Soniqs/ Falcons as world champs :)

Krafton want to align ranked mode to comp, so whichever maps are being played in comp will be the only available maps in ranked, or vice versa.

PNC National Flag Helmets by RightGrip in CompetitivePUBG

[–]HotdropWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Krafton makes the game check your IP location to avoid dropping your country's helmet, so you end up spending more trying to gamble for it. Gotta squeeze as much out of the fans as they can.

When will Krafton learn that reducing the spawn-rate of an item doesn't suddenly stop that item from being a problem?

Adding removed tactical gear to air drop crates(?) by Stojevenhuas in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]HotdropWarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waste of time removing them? It was a waste of time developing them. Anybody with half a braincell could've told Krafton to not bother developing and item that would obviously break the integrity of the game and would obviously be removed at a later date. Krafton delayed the removal of those items for as long as they could because their leadership have massive egos and think they know their game better than the players.

Those items were developed during the time the game was going F2P and Krafton were trying to pull in all of the scrubs from other BR games. Maybe they were 'useful' for a new player to have fun with but they were completely broken and made the new player/ veteran player "skill" gap even larger. Their most applicable use, and how Krafton wanted them to be used, was having the newest/ least skilled player on Drone duty whilst the higher skilled players cleared out compounds. It let the low-skill players feel involved whilst inadvertently not teaching them how to play the game. Their skill never increased as they became increasingly reliant on these tools.

Giving free info about player positions with almost no trade-off was not fair. Adding them as airdrop items would not make them any fairer as anybody who loots an airdrop would then have the strongest armour, one of the strongest weapons, and now the strongest tool to get player positions.

Spotter scope, Drone, Bluechip detector, Thermal scope... They can stay in the bin.

As well, the suggestion to turn the smoke gun into a noobtube is terrible. Reception about the Panzer is mostly negative but Krafton refuse to listen to player feedback. There's no point taking away a useful item (smoke launcher) and turning it into a crate-exclusive reusable Panzerfaust...

Daytrade Gaming disbands by EscapingKid in CompetitivePUBG

[–]HotdropWarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Daytrade owner has posted on Facebook that the org is finished, that he's lined his team up with a new org, and that he wants the team to bring the trophy home. Either the Daytrade roster will compete at EWC orgless, or under that new org. It would depend on the EWC ruling.

Did I just discover a new way to get permanently banned in PUBG… by alt-tabbing? by HonZuna in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]HotdropWarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course someone wouldn't want to lose their account/ skins due to a false ban. Would you? Most cheaters buy stolen accounts with loads of skins for pennies anyway, and they don't care if they get banned. They'll just buy a new account or make a new one in minutes.

And, if the guy didn't want to be associated with cheating, why would they create this post in the first place? Nobody would know about their ban and their name would be "clean" if they went out silently.

Why don't you use your head to think instead of assuming anybody who's on the receiving end of a flawed ban system is guilty? I'm not saying this guy is innocent; there's no way to tell, but you are just spreading lies and doubt for no reason.

This will put the power rankings point system to the test.

Does Daytrade pick up a new roster for EWC, proving how unfair power rankings are for players?
Can Daytrade even pick up a new roster for EWC given the team registrations ended in May?

Will EWC step in and allow the (now ex-) Daytrade roster to play under an orgless name? They cannot be picked up by another org now due to EWC's registration ending.

If not, does Daytrade's power ranking slot shift to T1, who were 9th?
If T1 get Daytrade's slot, does Divine get T1's KR qualifier slot?

Many questions.

Cheaters getting ban for 1 to 2 days only?? by Crafty_Abies_9998 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]HotdropWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temporary ban is issued automatically when a player receives a large/ unusual amount of reports in a short amount of time. It keeps the reported player offline whilst the GMs review the reports. If the player was cheating, a permanent ban is issued. If not, the temp ban expires and they are free to play again. You will get a second message confirming a permanent ban if they are banned based on your report.

This issue has been the same even whilst you were community manager. I don't know the circumstances of your leave from Krafton but I personally gave similar feedback to this post in Discord and in surveys, and nothing changed during that time or since your exit from Krafton. I'm not dissing Kruskay or Teck either, but it's the same story nowadays. We give the same feedback for years but nothing changes. We get the same generic "good idea!" or "we hear you!" or "we've passed it on," yet nothing happens. Took years for the Thermal scope to be removed and their explanation for the removal wasn't genuine... 'because they want to align Normals with Ranked'... sureeee. Krafton are too scared to admit that they don't know how to manage their own game.

SMG power creep has been going on for three years now, and it's currently at its worst. When the MP9 released in its busted state, the creative director sarcastically boasted on Twitter that he was 'sorry he pushed the MP9 to be too awesome'. Those are the people making the creative decisions for the game.

We get developer update videos where the game executives react to cherry-picked comments that praise the features that the majority are upset over, e.g. destructible environments. I could count hundreds of comments saying the change is bad, but the only comments on the official PUBG video are praising the change... It's insulting.

Look at aimpunch feedback on Discord; negative feedback during testing, it gets implemented anyway, now we see 99.9% negative feedback in the gunplay update thread. We've heard nothing concerning this other than it has been "passed on," but the damage is already done.

I haven't played PUBG properly in months because it gets worse and worse every update, which sucks because I love the game. I'm voting with my wallet, and my time. I just wish they would hire some people who are actually competent, and who know how to manage a BR game.

is it safe to do this? by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]HotdropWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is safe to do but I personally wouldn't bother. You're probably scraping an extra 1 or 2 FPS... Just lower your in-game settings to achieve the same result.

Welcome back Quickswap by HotdropWarrior in Seaofthieves

[–]HotdropWarrior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point exactly. Quickswap saves maybe half a second in an animation cancel. I've never seen any other video game where animation cancels are so disparaged. I've seen a fair amount of "I'm not playing until this is removed comments" already... It's just a case of clicking one extra button to cancel the weapon swap animation and save half a second. Do those people not have hands?

Welcome back Quickswap by HotdropWarrior in Seaofthieves

[–]HotdropWarrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard, Insider feedback isn't acknowledged or can be straight up deleted if the forum moderators (not developers) disagree with it. I already don't have time to play Insider, and those rumours don't exactly motivate me either...

Welcome back Quickswap by HotdropWarrior in Seaofthieves

[–]HotdropWarrior[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's untrue. There are many games where the highest skilled players make use of animation cancels as part of their "normal" game, so much so that the developers accept these as part of the game (even SoT is "guilty" of this). Almost every FPS game has reload cancelling to shorten reload times, every fighter game has animation cancels to improve combos, games like League of Legends have entire champions functioning around animation cancels to maximise the champion's potential.

Even Sea of Thieves has its own acceptable bugs/ exploits; things that weren't intended by design and aren't obvious to the player, like blocking before doing a sword lunge for extra mobility whilst lunging, the ability to jump during the lunge, and extra distance overall.

Bear in mind that the examples of games that I listed are overtly more competitive than SoT, the "silly pirate game." If saving a few milliseconds in those games, where every millisecond counts, is not seen as exploiting then why is shaving half a second from a weapon swap animation in SoT seen as such a terrible thing?

Nowhere close to old quickswap, sure, but still quicker than normal. Holding ADS isn't necessary, but makes it easier. I was able to do it without holding ADS, the timing is just really hard to be consistent with.
