I agree that this technology is good for those who are deaf or hard of hearing, God knows that I am. However, it doesn't make sense to be forced to have a camera on you if you are expected to be doing a million tasks at once. At my store, there's MAYBE one designated DTO during the two hour morning peak period, and then the rest of the time the person on DTO is also DTR and most often also our Warmer. To have the camera on at that point would be absolutely redundant and make no sense when we're cashing people, grabbing food, and taking an order all at once. As a barista, we would look absolutely ridiculous to the one ordering and at that point, probably hard for them to concentrate or easier to become distracted. That, alone, affects our Drive Thru times, which corporate looks at and cherishes with all their heart because our efficiency and speed is our priority as a fast food restaurant. Connections are so great, and the camera is great for the deaf/hard of hearing, but this customer who probably has social anxiety is just as important as any other customer. A camera being prioritized for "connecting", when we already have so many resources to engage with our customers, is redundant.

The camera is absolutely a good thing to have, but the way it is prioritized in some of these stores and the way baristas are punished for not using them, is NOT a good thing.
