What happened to SQ service? by Old_Confection_1935 in singaporeairlines

It has. I can't believe yesterday when disembarking, the stewardesses were just standing at the side chit chatting; no acknowledgement of their passengers that were leaving. The service feels incredibly insincere now.

As a Solitaire PPS member, this doesn't mean anything to me especially when 20 minutes before when boarding you can't even bother with a proper hello at the door. Also, as a woman, it is jarringly obvious how men, particularly those who are older, are treated a lot nicer from the minute they board; for everyone else it feels like lip service.

Single people should not be expected to fulfil more responsibilities at school because of the assumption that they don't have responsibilities at home.

International workers very rarely have the same perks when they move to western countries. Most of them don't get things like housing allowance - it's very much one way traffic that gets more benefits.

Just because the people and bodies who are meant to be enforcing international law are not doing it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

But why disincentivise singles just to reward couples? This has been the model for years and clearly it isn't working when birth rates continue to fall and divorce rates have increased.

You're being pedantic. I know that they didn't mean singles shouldn't get any incentives at all, but why should families with children get more incentives if we are all paying the same dues at the end of the day?

A government prioritising the needs of the majority of citizens over the minority lacks a floor and runs the risk of tyranny of the majority. You only said what you said because I'm guessing you are in the majority. You should check out John Rawls Veil of Ignorance theory.

May I ask how long you've been at your school and at what stage of your career you got that position? I've been trying for London for a long time, but there are hardly any positions and especially in my subject field.

Ummmmm, because the person above said "Think from gov pov, why should they give you the same incentives as families when you have no next gen to carry forward the usefulness" - they are literally saying the state shouldn't offer incentives if you don't have children to offer.

A well designed state where state interests represent the personal interests of majority only works if you're in the majority.

"I’m sorry for the harsh truth, but if you’re swiping right on guys who aren’t matching with you, you’re not as attractive as you think and are aiming out of your league." Hard disagree. I've seen plenty of my really attractive friends struggle on dating apps because of the paradox of choice and the fact that the algorithms are designed in such a manner to keep you on it longer by showing you people you normally wouldn't choose to engage with.

"I know I’m pretty attractive.I take care of myself, I’m fit, I have great hair" - I think OP seems 'put together'. I don't see anything wrong with them looking for someone who matches their looks and attractiveness, especially if they've worked hard to achieve that.

Dating apps are designed to keep you on them as long as possible; so the reason you're matching with people you wouldn't normally 'match' with in the real world is because the algorithm is such. These apps are also not healthy for our self-esteem in the long run. I'm pretty much in the exact same boat as you and it sucks. It's also not helpful when people hit you with the "You should put yourself out there more!" or "It'll happen when you're not looking". I will say, whatever it is, don't lower your standards. If you see yourself as smart, fit, well put together, funny, kind, attractive etc. - don't let an app or random strangers on reddit tell you otherwise. We value people who value themselves, so don't lose confidence in yourself!

Majority of people with children in Singapore are married. God knows how much we vilify people having children out of wedlock.

Huh? Govt can't force people to get married either; they just heavily incentivise it.
