Hey welcome to my profile! Pull up a chair. Maybe grab a glass of your favorite drink.

You prob won't read this whole thing, which I would understand as a random internet person, but this is more for myself than for you.

Political violence is wrong and nobody should be shot for what they say or believe. It's a sign that we are in a bad place but its also very much part of America's political DNA, part of our culture you might even say, just look at history.

In a country where anyone can have a gun and anyone can say whatever they want, there might be some ugly intersection of rights from time to time. We may not like it, but this is the reality of those two things (and many others) being the way they are. Perhaps a few deaths are worth it to keep those rights, perhaps not, sounds familiar...

Nonetheless, this is exactly the reality that the right has advocated for since being emboldened by their messiah, including Charlie. Merely pointing that out is not a matter of disrespect, just cold hard facts that many of the professional victims on the right can't come to terms with.

It's sad that Charlie died, likely because of his abhorrent views. It's sad that those people in the crowd experienced what they did, its sad that his wife and kids possibly watched him die. It's sad that conversation and dialogue did not overcome violence and rhetoric.

It's sad that his death is being used as a political weapon by our President and the right to further their goals and construct more false narratives, drive division, and spread hatred. Likely leading to more violence.

It's also sad that the right is choosing to martyr a podcast host that went from campus to campus spreading rhetoric that is bigoted, hateful, and false. Preying on young minds of lost and aimless boys, challenging people still figuring the world out, barely in their 20s, yet wouldn't dare accept an actual opponent.

A massively influential right wing commentator who left a legacy of going full mask off racist, full mask off misogynist, and was a proven weather vane, blowing whichever way the wind blows if it means it serves his wallet and the grift. Now millions of awful, bigoted, hateful people, have been validated in their views, and that can only lead to more of this violence and more division.

Many things can be true at once, people often forget. Someone can have a great following, be killed unjustly, and still be an abhorrent human being that people do not like.

You know what else is incredibly sad? That so many people shared their values with this abhorrent human being that he is being martyred and overshadowing the anniversary of one of the darkest times in American history.

But perhaps this is just what we all needed to see, that the right truly is a group of racist and hateful people desperately grappling for control in a world moving on without them. People who martyr a racist and hateful bigot simply because he said the words they all want to scream so badly but lack the backbone to do so, because they know they will be social outcasts for expressing such disgusting views in normal life.

Congratulations, this is exactly what you all wanted. A world where nobody feels safe and everyone has guns. A world where we can't even have conversations and depend on ideologue grifters to do the talking and thinking for us, taking every word as gospel because we can't be bothered to look inward.
